Redragon K636LGR-KR is a wired mechanical gaming keyboard with a compact layout and numeric keypad. A separate Redragon system driver is not required for normal text input: after connection, Windows uses standard HID drivers.
The proprietary Redragon program is required for additional keyboard settings, including supported programmable functions and macros.
Does Redragon K636LGR-KR need a driver?
A separate Redragon driver is not required for basic operation.
- Connect the keyboard directly to a USB port on the computer.
- Wait a few seconds while Windows detects the device.
- Open any text editor.
- Test the letter keys, numbers, Enter, Backspace, Space, and the numeric keypad.
If the keyboard types and the main keys work, the standard HID driver has already been installed automatically by Windows.
There is no need to look for a separate universal keyboard driver or use third-party driver update programs.
What the Redragon program is used for
The proprietary Redragon program is an additional configuration utility, not a required device driver.
It is used for the keyboard’s available programmable functions, including configuring supported assignments and macros. The exact set of settings should be determined from the program intended specifically for K636LGR-KR.
If additional functions are not required, the keyboard can be used without installing Redragon Software.
Where to download the program for K636LGR-KR
It is recommended to obtain the software only from official Redragon pages.

The name includes the version:
V1.0
and the date:
2025-05-06
The separate K636LGR-KR page may also provide the following file:
Redragon_K636LGR-KR_Software.exe
Preparing to install the program
It is recommended to first test the keyboard without additional software.
- Connect K636LGR-KR directly to a USB port on the computer.
- Wait for Windows to install the standard device.
- Test normal text input.
- Make sure the keyboard works reliably.
- Close Redragon programs intended for other keyboards.
For the initial setup, it is better not to use a USB hub, docking station, or USB switch. Connect the keyboard directly to the computer.

- If Windows asks for permission to make changes, check the file name and download source again.
- Follow the installer steps.
- After the installation is complete, launch the Redragon program.
- The keyboard should be connected to the computer when the program is launched for the first time.
If the program detects the device, you can proceed to additional settings.
How to install the program in Windows 10

Windows shows a warning when launching the installer
The verified Redragon_K636LGR-KR_Setup_V1.0_20250506.exe file may not appear in Windows as a program with a standard digital signature from a verified publisher.
Therefore, Windows or Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may display an additional warning when it is launched.
Do not disable SmartScreen, Microsoft Defender, or antivirus protection just to install the keyboard program.
If a warning appears:
- check the download source;
- make sure the official K636LGR-KR page was opened;
- verify the model designation in the file name;
- do not run an EXE file with the same name obtained from an unknown website.
First launch of the program
During the first launch, it is recommended to change settings gradually.
- Connect K636LGR-KR.
- Launch the installed program.
- Make sure the device is detected.
- Change only one setting.
- Apply the change using the command provided in the program.
- Check the result.
After a successful test, you can proceed to other functions.
Tab and button names may depend on the software version. Do not use interface element names from software for another K636 model.
Configuring programmable keys
K636LGR-KR supports programmable functions through the proprietary software.
The general configuration procedure is as follows:
- Launch the Redragon program.
- Select the key whose assignment you want to change.
- Select one of the available actions.
- Apply the change.
- Check the operation of the selected key.
For the first test, it is recommended to use a key whose original assignment can easily be restored.
How to configure a macro
Macros can be used for supported programmable functions.
Start by creating a short test macro.
- Open the macro section in the program.
- Create a new macro.
- Record a short sequence of key presses.
- If the program allows it, configure the required delays between actions.
- Assign the macro to a supported key.
- Apply the setting.
- Check the result in a text editor or another safe application.
The keyboard works, but the program does not detect it
It is possible for K636LGR-KR to work normally in Windows while the Redragon program reports that no supported device was found or does not provide configuration options.
If normal text input works, this means that the standard Windows HID driver is already functioning. There is no need to start by looking for another system driver in this situation.
Follow these steps:
- Close the Redragon program.
- Check the label on the underside of the keyboard.
- Make sure the model shown is specifically K636LGR-KR.
- Check that the program for K636LGR-KR is installed, not the one for K636LGR-R or K636GLR-R.
- Disconnect the keyboard from the computer.
- Connect it directly to another USB port.
- Wait for Windows to detect the device again.
- Test normal input.
- Launch the Redragon program again.
Do not confuse K636LGR-KR with K636LGR-R
The designations of these models are very similar, but they should not be considered the same keyboard.
For the model covered by this guide, the verified installer name contains:
K636LGR-KR
Do not install software intended for:
K636LGR-R K636GLR-R K636GLR K636CLO
It is especially important not to use firmware for another variant.
If software for another model was previously installed
If K636LGR-KR works as a normal keyboard but the proprietary program does not detect it, check the installed Redragon applications.
Windows 11
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Find the Redragon program that was installed for another keyboard.
- Click the three-dot button.
- Select Uninstall.
- Restart the computer.
- Check normal K636LGR-KR operation.
- Install the program for K636LGR-KR.
Windows 10
- Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features.
- Find the previously installed Redragon program.
- Select it and click Uninstall.
- Restart the computer.
- Install the program intended for K636LGR-KR.
The program does not launch after installation
If the keyboard types normally but the Redragon program does not launch, there is no need to start by reinstalling the standard HID driver.
Try reinstalling the proprietary software itself:
- Uninstall the installed Redragon program.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the program again from the K636LGR-KR page.
- Connect the keyboard directly to a USB port on the computer.
- Close configuration programs for other Redragon devices.
- Repeat the installation.
How to check the keyboard in Windows 11
If you are unsure whether Windows detects the keyboard, check Device Manager.
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboards.
- Also check Human Interface Devices.
K636LGR-KR may appear under a standard system HID keyboard name. The absence of the word Redragon in the device name is not an error by itself.
If text input works and there are no warning icons next to the devices, there is no need to look for a separate HID driver.
How to check the keyboard in Windows 10
- Right-click the Start button.
- Open Device Manager.
- Check Keyboards.
- Check Human Interface Devices.
If the keyboard works and there are no warning icons, the standard driver is installed correctly.
If K636LGR-KR does not work at all
If the keyboard does not type after connection and Windows does not respond to it, installing the proprietary program should not be the first step.
First, check the connection itself:
- Disconnect the keyboard.
- Connect it to another USB port.
- Do not use a USB hub or docking station for testing.
- Restart the computer.
- Connect the keyboard again.
- If the problem persists, test the device on another computer.
If the keyboard is not detected on another computer either, installing software for other K636 models usually does not solve the problem.
A yellow icon appears in Device Manager
If the error appears specifically for the device associated with K636LGR-KR, you can make Windows detect it again.
- Disconnect the keyboard.
- Open Device Manager.
- Find the device with the error that is associated with the K636LGR-KR connection.
- Right-click it.
- Select Uninstall device.
- Restart the computer.
- After Windows starts, connect the keyboard again.
Windows should reinstall the standard system component for the device.
Keys work incorrectly after configuration
If the problem appeared after changing a key assignment or creating a macro, first check the settings in the K636LGR-KR program.
- Launch the Redragon program.
- Find the recently changed assignment.
- Delete or disable the recently created macro.
- If the program allows it, restore the key’s original action.
- Apply the changes.
- Test the keyboard in a text editor.
Do not install software or firmware for another model as a way to restore the default settings.
Settings changed after restarting
You should not assume in advance that all program settings are necessarily stored in the keyboard’s internal memory.
After configuring an important function, it is recommended to check it as follows:
- apply the change;
- check that it works;
- close the Redragon program;
- check the keyboard again;
- restart Windows;
- check whether the setting was preserved.
This makes it possible to determine which settings continue to work independently of the program and which are linked to it being running.
Can K636LGR-KR be used without the Redragon program?
Yes. The proprietary program is not required for normal text input and standard USB keyboard operation.
Windows automatically uses the standard HID driver.
It only makes sense to install the Redragon program when supported additional functions are required, such as changing key assignments or working with macros.
If you are satisfied with the keyboard’s current settings, you do not need to install additional software.
