Redragon S101-BA-3 Gaming Combo — Mice: driver, software, DPI, and mouse configuration

The mouse included with the Redragon S101-BA-3 Gaming Combo does not require a separate proprietary driver for normal operation in Windows. After connection to a USB port, Windows automatically detects the device and uses the standard system HID driver.

For advanced mouse configuration, proprietary Redragon software is available. It allows you to change DPI, button assignments, profiles, macros, and lighting settings. However, this software does not need to be installed for normal pointer movement, operation of the left and right buttons, and the scroll wheel.

Important: this guide is intended for the wired mouse from the Redragon S101-BA-3 combo with a maximum sensitivity of 7200 DPI. Earlier S101-BA combos may have included different M601 mouse versions with different specifications and software. Before installing the software, check the specifications and model designation of your mouse.

Does the Redragon S101-BA-3 mouse need a driver?

A separate Redragon driver is not required for normal mouse operation.

  1. Connect the mouse directly to an available USB port on the computer.
  2. Wait a few seconds.
  3. Windows will automatically detect the device and install the standard HID driver.
  4. Check pointer movement, the left and right buttons, and the scroll wheel.

If the pointer moves and the main buttons work, there is no need to look for another driver.

The proprietary Redragon software is an additional configuration utility and works together with the standard Windows driver.

Is software available for the S101-BA-3 mouse?

Yes. Proprietary software is available for the mouse included with S101-BA-3. However, the hardware version of the mouse must be taken into account when selecting it.

For the wired version from the S101-BA-3 combo with sensitivity levels up to 7200 DPI, the M601-RGB / 2493 software family is suitable.

The verified complete Redragon package contains mouse configuration software and the required additional interface files. It provides:

  • DPI level configuration;
  • remapping of supported buttons;
  • macro creation;
  • multiple profiles;
  • profile import and export;
  • configuration of supported lighting settings;
  • additional mouse settings;
  • restoring default settings.

The proprietary software must be installed to use these functions. It is not required for normal mouse operation.

Do not install M602P-KS software for this mouse

The S101-BA-3 download page may offer a file named:

Redragon_S101-BA-3_M602P-Software.exe

Verification of this installer showed that its internal data contains:

  • ProductName: Redragon M602P-KS Gaming Mouse;
  • FileDescription: Redragon M602P-KS Gaming Mouse Setup;
  • ProductVersion: 1.0.0.1.
This installer should not be used for the wired S101-BA-3 mouse with 7200 DPI. M602P-KS is a different mouse hardware family. Installing software for another model may result in the utility failing to recognize the device or displaying a message that the mouse is not connected.

If M602P-KS software is already installed, it can be removed. The standard Windows HID driver will remain available, and the mouse will continue to work as a normal input device.

How to download the appropriate software

For the verified wired version, it is recommended to use the complete official Redragon package for M601-RGB / 2493.

Download Redragon M601-RGB / 2493 Software

After downloading, fully extract the ZIP archive to a separate folder.

Do not run setup.exe directly from the ZIP archive. The package contains a CustomSkins folder with software interface resources. The entire folder structure must be preserved when extracting the archive.

How to install the software

  1. Download the complete software package.
  2. Right-click the ZIP file and extract it to a separate folder.
  3. Open the extracted folder.
  4. Make sure the CustomSkins folder is present together with the installer.
  5. Connect the mouse directly to a USB port on the computer.
  6. Close other Redragon mouse configuration programs.
  7. Run setup.exe.
  8. Complete the installation.
  9. Launch the installed software and check whether it recognizes the mouse.
Windows warning: this software was created for an earlier generation of devices, so Windows may display a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning or another security prompt. Continue with the installation only if the file was obtained from an official Redragon resource and you have verified that you are using the package for your mouse hardware version.

DPI configuration

The S101-BA-3 mouse allows you to quickly change sensitivity using the DPI button on the mouse.

This hardware version uses the following levels:

  • 800 DPI;
  • 1200 DPI;
  • 1600 DPI;
  • 2400 DPI;
  • 7200 DPI.

The software is not required for normal switching between the available levels. Use the DPI button on the mouse.

If more precise configuration of the supported levels is required, launch the proprietary software and open the DPI settings section.

Do not apply DPI values from other M601 models. Older M601 and M601-3 models may have a maximum sensitivity of 3200 DPI, while other M601RGB versions may use a different range. This article covers the version included with S101-BA-3 with a maximum value of 7200 DPI.

Remapping mouse buttons

The software allows you to change the assignments of supported buttons.

Depending on the selected button, standard mouse actions and additional functions may be available, for example:

  • left or right click;
  • Forward;
  • Back;
  • DPI Up;
  • DPI Down;
  • DPI Cycle;
  • multimedia commands;
  • profile switching;
  • launching a supported command or program;
  • macro;
  • disabling the button.

After changing an assignment, save the settings and test the button.

Creating macros

The software includes a macro manager. It allows you to record command sequences and assign them to supported mouse buttons.

  1. Open the Macros section or Macro Manager.
  2. Create a new macro.
  3. Record the required sequence of keys or commands.
  4. If necessary, configure delays between actions.
  5. Save the macro.
  6. Return to the button assignment section.
  7. Assign the created macro to the required mouse button.
  8. Apply the settings.

The software also supports options for repeating a macro if this function is available for the selected profile.

When using macros in games, follow the rules of the specific game and its anti-cheat system. Automation of some in-game actions may be prohibited.

Mouse profiles

The proprietary software supports multiple configuration profiles.

A profile can contain its own DPI settings, button assignments, macros, and other supported settings.

Profile import and export are also available. This is useful if you need to save your settings before reinstalling the software or transfer them to another computer with a compatible mouse.

Lighting configuration

The software includes a separate lighting configuration section.

Depending on the mouse hardware version, you can change supported lighting modes and effect settings.

If the lighting works normally and no additional configuration is required, there is no need to install the software just to turn on the lighting.

If the software says Device is Disconnected

A common situation is when the mouse moves the pointer normally in Windows, but the Redragon software displays Device is Disconnected, Device not connected, or another message saying that the device was not found.

This does not mean that the mouse is missing a system driver. If the cursor moves, the Windows HID driver is already working.

  1. Check which software is installed.
  2. If it is M602P-KS, M601-3, or software for another revision, uninstall it.
  3. Install the M601-RGB / 2493 package that corresponds to the 7200 DPI mouse.
  4. Connect the mouse directly to a USB port on the computer.
  5. Do not use a USB hub, docking station, or extension cable during testing.
  6. Try another USB port.
  7. Close the Redragon software and launch it again.
  8. Restart Windows and test again.
If the mouse works normally but the software does not recognize it, do not remove the HID driver as the first troubleshooting step. First rule out incompatibility between the proprietary software and the mouse hardware revision.

If M602P-KS software or another incompatible version is installed

Windows 11

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
  2. Find the Redragon software.
  3. Open the software menu and select Uninstall.
  4. Complete the uninstallation.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Then install the appropriate M601-RGB / 2493 software if advanced settings are required.

Windows 10

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features.
  2. Find the Redragon software.
  3. Select it and click Uninstall.
  4. Complete the uninstallation.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Install the appropriate software if it is required.

Uninstalling the proprietary software does not remove the standard Windows mouse driver.

If the buttons work incorrectly after changing settings

If the problem appeared after remapping buttons or applying a profile:

  1. Open the Redragon software.
  2. Go to the button assignment section.
  3. Check the action assigned to the problematic button.
  4. Restore the default assignment.
  5. Save the changes.
  6. Test the mouse again.

If many settings have been changed and it is difficult to identify the cause, use the software’s restore default settings function.

If DPI does not work correctly

If the pointer becomes too slow or too fast:

  1. Press the DPI button on the mouse several times and test each level.
  2. If the proprietary software is installed, open the DPI section and check the saved values.
  3. Restore the default levels if they were changed.
  4. Apply the settings.

If the problem appeared after installing software for another M601 or M602P-KS, uninstall the incompatible software and test the mouse again without it.

If the mouse lighting does not work

  1. Disconnect the mouse from the USB port and reconnect it.
  2. Try another USB port.
  3. Check the lighting settings in the software if it is installed.
  4. Restore the default profile.
  5. Test the mouse on another computer.

If the mouse itself works but the lighting is absent and is not restored after resetting the settings, the problem may be hardware-related.

If Windows does not detect the mouse

If the pointer does not move at all and Windows does not respond to the connection:

  1. Disconnect the mouse.
  2. Connect it directly to another USB port on the computer.
  3. Do not use a USB hub or extension cable.
  4. Restart Windows.
  5. Test the mouse on another computer if possible.

If the mouse works on another computer, you can force Windows to detect the device again.

Re-detecting the mouse in Windows

  1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  3. If several HID mice are listed, do not remove all of them.
  4. Disconnect the Redragon mouse and identify which entry disappears.
  5. Reconnect the mouse and make sure the corresponding entry appears.
  6. Right-click the identified device and select Uninstall device.
  7. Disconnect the mouse for a few seconds.
  8. Connect it again.

Windows will automatically reinstall the standard HID driver.

If the mouse disconnects intermittently

  1. Connect it directly to a USB port on the computer.
  2. Try another USB port.
  3. Do not use a USB hub for testing.
  4. Inspect the USB cable and the point where it enters the mouse housing.
  5. Test the mouse on another computer.

If the disconnections occur on several computers, installing different software will usually not fix a hardware problem with the cable, connector, or the mouse itself.

Using the mouse in Windows 11

The mouse uses the standard USB HID interface, so no special driver is required for normal operation in Windows 11.

The proprietary M601-RGB / 2493 software was created for an earlier generation of Windows. If the mouse itself works but the older utility does not launch or does not detect the device, this is not proof of a problem with the system HID driver.

First check the mouse hardware version and make sure the correct software is selected.

Using the mouse in Windows 10

In Windows 10, the mouse also automatically uses the standard system driver.

Install the proprietary software only if advanced functions are required: DPI configuration, programmable buttons, macros, profiles, or lighting.
