Redragon S101-3 PRO Gaming Combo — Keyboard: driver, software, macros, and RGB lighting

The Redragon S101-3 PRO keyboard is a wired USB device and does not require a separate proprietary driver for normal operation in Windows. After connection, Windows automatically detects the keyboard and uses the standard HID driver.

Official Redragon software is available for advanced configuration. It is designed for configuring RGB lighting, macros, profiles, and other supported functions. The software does not need to be installed for normal text input, use of the main keys, or hardware macro recording.

Important: this guide is intended specifically for the Redragon S101-3 PRO Gaming Combo — Keyboard. Do not use software for the standard S101-3, S101-4, or other similar combos just because the keyboards look similar.

Does the S101-3 PRO Keyboard need a driver?

A separate Redragon driver is not required for basic operation.

  1. Connect the keyboard’s USB cable directly to an available USB port on the computer.
  2. Wait a few seconds.
  3. Windows will automatically detect the device and install the standard HID driver.
  4. Open any text editor and test typing.

If the keyboard types normally and the main keys work, there is no need to look for an additional system driver.

The proprietary Redragon software is an additional configuration utility, not a mandatory keyboard driver.

Official S101-3 PRO Keyboard software

The keyboard software can be downloaded from the official Redragon page:

At the time of verification, the official installer is named:

File verification showed that the software is internally identified as:

Redragon K503A-RGB V2 GAMING KEYBOARD

The software version is 1.0.0.1.

The K503A-RGB V2 name is normal. The verified installer was obtained specifically from the S101-3 PRO Keyboard page. Redragon uses the K503A-RGB V2 software family for this keyboard. Therefore, seeing this name during installation does not mean that software for the wrong device was downloaded.

What the Redragon software is used for

The verified installer contains components for:

  • creating and editing macros;
  • working with profiles;
  • configuring supported keys;
  • controlling RGB lighting;
  • saving additional keyboard settings.

The installer also contains an additional virtual HID component. It is used by the proprietary software for advanced functions.

This additional component is not required for normal text input. Even without the software, the keyboard should work through the standard Windows HID driver.

How to install the software

  1. Download the software from the official S101-3 PRO Keyboard page.
  2. Connect the keyboard directly to a USB port on the computer.
  3. Close other Redragon keyboard configuration programs.
  4. Run the downloaded EXE file.
  5. If Windows asks for permission to make changes, check the filename and continue with the installation.
  6. Complete the installation.
  7. Launch the Redragon software.
If Windows SmartScreen displays a warning: continue with the installation only if the file was downloaded directly from the official Redragon website and its name corresponds to S101-3 PRO Keyboard. It is not recommended to bypass the warning for a file obtained from an unknown source.

Can the keyboard be used without the software?

Yes. The main keyboard functions are available without the proprietary software.

Without the software, you can:

  • type and use the standard keys;
  • use multimedia functions;
  • switch between built-in RGB modes;
  • use G1–G5;
  • record simple hardware macros.

Switching RGB lighting modes

The keyboard has built-in RGB lighting modes. The following shortcuts are used to select them:

  • FN + INSERT;
  • FN + HOME;
  • FN + PAGE UP;
  • FN + DELETE;
  • FN + END;
  • FN + PAGE DOWN.

Each shortcut activates the corresponding built-in lighting option. Pressing it again may change the mode settings if this is supported by the current hardware revision.

G1–G5 hardware macros

The keyboard has five dedicated macro keys, G1–G5, and a Rec key. A simple key sequence can be recorded directly from the keyboard without using the software.

How to record a macro

  1. Press Rec.
  2. Press one of the G1–G5 keys where you want to save the sequence.
  3. Press the required keys in the desired order.
  4. Press Rec again to finish recording.
  5. Press the selected G key and test the saved sequence.

For example:

Rec → G1 → A → S → D → Rec

After that, pressing G1 should play back the saved sequence.

When using macros in games, follow the rules of the specific game. Some types of automation may be prohibited by the game developer or anti-cheat system.

Macros through the software

For more advanced configuration, it is recommended to use the Redragon software.

It includes components for creating macros and working with profiles. This allows you to use more complex sequences and save different sets of settings.

After changing settings, be sure to apply or save them in the software before closing it.

If the software does not detect the keyboard

The keyboard may work normally in Windows while the proprietary software does not detect the device.

Do the following:

  1. Make sure you are using software specifically for S101-3 PRO Keyboard.
  2. Do not install the software for the standard S101-3 instead.
  3. Connect the keyboard directly to a USB port on the computer.
  4. Do not use a USB hub, docking station, or extension cable for testing.
  5. Try another USB port.
  6. Close the Redragon software.
  7. Disconnect the keyboard for a few seconds and reconnect it.
  8. Launch the software again.
  9. If the problem persists, restart Windows.
If the keyboard types normally but the software does not detect it, this does not mean that a Windows driver is missing. The standard HID driver is already working. In this case, the problem is related to the proprietary utility, its additional component, or an incompatible software version.

Do not use software for the standard S101-3

The standard S101-3 and S101-3 PRO should not be considered completely identical hardware versions.

For S101-3 PRO, Redragon provides a separate keyboard installer that belongs to the K503A-RGB V2 software family.

If software for the standard S101-3 or another Redragon keyboard was previously installed, it is recommended to remove it before installing the correct version.

Removing the software in Windows 11

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
  2. Find the old Redragon software.
  3. Open the app menu and select Uninstall.
  4. Complete the uninstallation.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Install the S101-3 PRO Keyboard software.

Removing the software in Windows 10

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features.
  2. Find the old Redragon software.
  3. Select it and click Uninstall.
  4. Complete the uninstallation.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Install the S101-3 PRO Keyboard software.

Uninstalling the proprietary software does not remove the standard Windows HID driver.

If G1–G5 do not execute recorded commands

  1. Record a short test sequence, such as two or three letters.
  2. Test it in a regular text editor rather than in a game.
  3. If the test macro works, the problem may be related to restrictions in a specific program or game.
  4. If the proprietary software is used, check the selected profile and the G-key assignments.
  5. Temporarily close other programs that control the keyboard or intercept keyboard shortcuts.

Testing the macro in a text editor helps distinguish a keyboard fault from restrictions in a specific game.

If the RGB lighting does not work

  1. Try switching the mode using FN + INSERT, FN + HOME, FN + PAGE UP, FN + DELETE, FN + END, or FN + PAGE DOWN.
  2. Disconnect the keyboard from the USB port for a few seconds.
  3. Connect it again.
  4. Try another USB port.
  5. If the proprietary software is installed, check the lighting settings and active profile.
  6. If the problem appeared after changing settings in the software, restore the default profile settings.

If the keys work but the lighting cannot be restored either with hardware shortcuts or through the software, the cause may be hardware-related.

If Windows does not detect the keyboard at all

  1. Disconnect the keyboard.
  2. Connect it directly to another USB port on the computer.
  3. Do not use a USB hub or extension cable.
  4. Restart Windows.
  5. If possible, test the keyboard on another computer.

If the keyboard works on another computer, you can force Windows to detect the device again.

Re-detecting the HID keyboard

  1. Right-click the Start button and open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Keyboards.
  3. If several identical HID keyboards are listed, do not remove all of them.
  4. Disconnect S101-3 PRO and see which entry disappears.
  5. Reconnect the keyboard and make sure that entry appears again.
  6. Right-click the identified device and select Uninstall device.
  7. Disconnect the keyboard for a few seconds.
  8. Connect it again.

Windows will automatically reinstall the standard HID driver.

If the keyboard is not detected even on another computer, installing different Redragon software will usually not help. In this case, check the USB cable, the connector, and the device itself.
