The wired mouse included with the Redragon S101-3 PRO does not require a separate proprietary driver for normal operation in Windows. After connection, the operating system automatically uses the standard USB HID driver.
For advanced configuration, separate official Redragon software is available. It allows you to change supported DPI settings, button assignments, macros, profiles, polling rate, and RGB lighting.
Does the S101-3 PRO mouse need a driver?
A separate Redragon driver is not required for normal operation.
- Connect the mouse directly to a USB port on the computer.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Windows will automatically detect the device.
- Check pointer movement, the left and right buttons, and the scroll wheel.
If the mouse already works, there is no need to install an additional system driver.
The proprietary Redragon software is required only for advanced configuration.
Official S101-3 PRO Mice software
The software can be downloaded from the official page:
Redragon S101-3 PRO Gaming Combo — Mice Software
At the time of verification, the official installer is named:
Redragon_S101-3_PRO_Mice_setup_a6e890c3-8f4a-4141-b70a-2093e9678c00.exe
File verification showed that Redragon uses the M601-RGB V2 software family for S101-3 PRO.
S101-3 PRO 7200 DPI and the old S101-3 3200 DPI
Instructions for earlier S101-3 combos can be found online. Their mouse had a maximum sensitivity of about 3200 DPI and used different software.
For the updated S101-3 PRO covered here, the following sensitivity levels are used:
- 800 DPI;
- 1200 DPI;
- 1600 DPI;
- 2400 DPI;
- 7200 DPI.
You can switch between them using the DPI button directly on the mouse.
How to install the mouse software
- Download the installer from the official S101-3 PRO Mice page.
- Connect the mouse directly to a USB port on the computer.
- Close Redragon software for other mice.
- Run the installer.
- Complete the installation.
- Launch the Redragon software.
- Check whether the device is recognized.
There is no need to manually search for an HID driver on the Internet for installation.
Adjusting DPI without software
The proprietary software is not required for normal sensitivity adjustment.
Press the DPI button on the mouse to cycle through the available levels:
800 → 1200 → 1600 → 2400 → 7200 DPI
A low DPI value is convenient for more precise pointer movement, while a high value is suitable for faster movement.
Adjusting DPI through the software
The proprietary software allows more detailed control of supported sensitivity settings.
- Launch the Redragon software.
- Open the DPI settings section.
- Check the values of the individual levels.
- Change the required settings.
- Apply or save the settings.
If the pointer becomes too fast or too slow after configuration, return to the default values or restore the default profile.
Button assignments
The proprietary software allows you to remap supported mouse buttons.
Depending on the selected button and software version, the following may be available:
- standard mouse actions;
- Forward and Back;
- DPI switching;
- multimedia commands;
- macros;
- profile switching;
- other supported actions.
After changing an assignment, be sure to apply the settings.
Creating macros
The software allows you to create command sequences and assign them to supported mouse buttons.
- Open the macro manager.
- Create a new macro.
- Record the required sequence of keys or actions.
- If necessary, configure delays.
- Save the macro.
- Return to the button configuration section.
- Assign the macro to the required button.
- Apply the settings.
Profiles
If the software provides several profiles, each can be used for a separate set of settings.
For example, one profile can store a high DPI value and gaming button assignments, while another can use lower sensitivity and standard actions for normal work.
If the mouse suddenly starts working differently, first check which profile is selected in the software.
Mouse polling rate
The following polling rate values are available for this software family:
- 125 Hz;
- 250 Hz;
- 500 Hz;
- 1000 Hz.
The higher the polling rate, the more often the mouse sends movement data to the computer.
For most modern computers, 1000 Hz can be used. If unusual delays, increased load, or instability occur on an older computer, temporarily set 500 or 250 Hz for testing.
RGB lighting configuration
The mouse has built-in lighting, and M601-RGB V2 software allows you to change supported lighting settings.
If the lighting works and you do not need additional effects, there is no need to install the software just for normal mouse operation.
If the software says Device is Disconnected
If the software reports Device is Disconnected but the pointer and main mouse buttons work, the standard Windows driver is already installed.
In this case, do the following:
- Check the name of the installed software.
- Make sure you are using software specifically for S101-3 PRO Mice.
- If the old M601-3/Centrophorus or M601 RGB V1 software is installed, uninstall it.
- Connect the mouse directly to a USB port on the computer.
- Do not use a USB hub during testing.
- Try another USB port.
- Close the Redragon software and launch it again.
- Restart Windows.
If the old M601-3 software is installed
It is not recommended to install the following old packages for S101-3 PRO with 7200 DPI:
- M601-3 Centrophorus;
- M601 RGB V1;
- software for the standard S101-3 intended for another hardware revision.
Removing the wrong software in Windows 11
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Find the old Redragon software.
- Open the app menu and select Uninstall.
- Complete the uninstallation.
- Restart Windows.
- Install S101-3 PRO Mice software from the official page.
Removing the wrong software in Windows 10
- Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features.
- Find the old Redragon software.
- Select it and click Uninstall.
- Complete the uninstallation.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the correct S101-3 PRO Mice software.
After removing the proprietary utility, the mouse should continue to work through the standard Windows HID driver.
If the side or other buttons work incorrectly
If the problem appeared after installing the software or changing the profile:
- Launch the Redragon software.
- Open the button assignment section.
- Check the action assigned to the problematic button.
- Restore the default assignment.
- Apply the settings.
If many settings have been changed and it is difficult to find the error, restore the software’s default profile.
If DPI becomes too high or too low
- Press the physical DPI button several times and check each level.
- If the software is installed, open the DPI settings.
- Check the values of the saved levels.
- Restore the default values if they were changed accidentally.
- Apply the settings.
If the problem appeared immediately after installing the old M601-3 software or another incompatible utility, uninstall it first.
If the RGB lighting does not work
- Disconnect the mouse from the USB port for a few seconds.
- Connect it again.
- Try another USB port.
- If the software is installed, open the lighting settings.
- Check the active profile and RGB settings.
- If necessary, restore the default settings.
If the mouse works normally but the lighting does not turn on after restoring the settings and testing on another computer, the lighting may have a hardware fault.
If Windows does not detect the mouse
If the pointer does not move at all and Windows does not respond to the connection:
- Disconnect the mouse.
- Connect it to another USB port on the computer.
- Do not use a USB hub or extension cable.
- Restart Windows.
- If possible, test the mouse on another computer.
If the mouse works on another computer, re-detect the HID device.
Re-detecting the mouse in Windows
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- If several HID mice are listed, do not remove all of them.
- Disconnect S101-3 PRO and identify which entry disappears.
- Reconnect the mouse and make sure the corresponding entry appears.
- Right-click the identified device and select Uninstall device.
- Disconnect the mouse for a few seconds.
- Connect it again.
Windows will automatically reinstall the standard HID driver.
If the mouse disconnects intermittently
- Connect the mouse directly to a USB port on the computer.
- Try another USB port.
- Do not use a USB hub or extension cable.
- Inspect the USB cable and the point where it enters the mouse housing.
- Test the device on another computer.
If the disconnections occur on different computers, installing different software will usually not fix a hardware problem with the cable, USB connector, or the mouse itself.
