Redragon K671 Gaming Keyboard: driver, software, macros, and lighting configuration

Last Updated on 13.09.2026 by DriverNew

Redragon K671 is a full-size wired 104-key mechanical keyboard with USB-C connectivity. A separate proprietary Redragon driver is not required for normal operation in Windows. After the keyboard is connected, the operating system automatically uses the standard HID keyboard driver.

For advanced configuration, the official Redragon K671 Setup V1.0 software is available. It is designed for remapping supported keys, creating macros, and configuring the lighting, but the software does not need to be installed for normal text input or use of the built-in lighting modes.

Important: the standard wired K671, wireless K671-KS, and other models in the K671 family are not the same keyboard. Do not install software or firmware for K671-KS, K671WBP-KS, or another similar model just because their names are similar.

Does the Redragon K671 need a driver?

A separate Redragon driver is not required for basic operation.

  1. Connect the USB-C cable to the keyboard.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable directly to an available USB port on the computer.
  3. Wait a few seconds.
  4. Windows will automatically detect the device and install the standard HID driver.
  5. Open a text editor and test the letter, number, and function keys.

If the keyboard types normally and the main keys work, there is no need to look for an additional system driver.

The Redragon K671 Setup V1.0 software is an additional configuration utility and does not replace the standard Windows HID driver.

Official Redragon K671 software

The K671 software can be downloaded from the official Redragon download center:

Redragon Software

At the time of verification, Redragon distributes the K671 software in two forms: as a ZIP archive and as a separate EXE file.

Archive:

Redragon_K671_Setup_V1.0_20230724.zip

contains the installer:

Redragon K671 Setup V1.0 20230724.exe

Testing showed that the EXE file inside the ZIP archive and the separately distributed EXE file are completely identical. Therefore, there is no need to install both versions.

The two K671 downloads on the Redragon website do not mean that the user needs two different programs. The verified installers belong to the same K671 Setup V1.0 software.

How to install K671 Setup V1.0

  1. Download the software for the standard K671 Gaming Keyboard from the official Redragon website.
  2. If you downloaded the ZIP archive, extract it completely to a separate folder.
  3. Connect K671 directly to a USB port on the computer.
  4. Close Redragon software intended for other keyboards.
  5. Run Redragon K671 Setup V1.0 20230724.exe.
  6. Confirm the Windows prompt to allow changes if it appears.
  7. Complete the installation.
  8. Launch the software and check whether the keyboard is detected.

It is recommended to first make sure that K671 works normally without the proprietary software. Install K671 Setup V1.0 only if you need additional settings.

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning

The verified K671 Setup V1.0 installer does not have an Authenticode digital signature. Therefore, Windows 10 or Windows 11 may display Microsoft Defender SmartScreen or indicate an unknown publisher.

Continue with the installation only if the file was downloaded directly from the official Redragon website for K671. Do not run installers with similar names obtained from unknown sources.

If Windows displays “Windows protected your PC” and you are sure you are using the official K671 installer, click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.

Can K671 be used without the software?

Yes. The proprietary software is not required for normal operation or for controlling the main lighting modes.

Without the software, you can:

  • type and use the keyboard in games;
  • switch between built-in lighting modes;
  • adjust brightness;
  • change the speed of dynamic effects;
  • use special gaming lighting modes.

Controlling the lighting without software

K671 has 11 built-in lighting modes. They can be switched directly from the keyboard.

Key combination Function
FN + Insert Cycles through the built-in lighting modes.
FN + ↑ Increases brightness.
FN + ↓ Decreases brightness.
FN + → Increases the speed of the dynamic effect.
FN + ← Decreases the speed of the dynamic effect.

Several brightness and speed levels are available. Speed adjustment is noticeable only in dynamic lighting modes.

If the lighting appears to be off or too dim: press FN + ↑ several times, then press FN + Insert. There is no need to reinstall the driver for this.

Gaming lighting modes

The keyboard has special lighting options that highlight keys commonly used in certain games.

Shortcut Mode
FN + 1 FPS
FN + 2 CF
FN + 3 Racing

These modes work directly from the keyboard and do not require K671 Setup V1.0 to be installed.

What Redragon K671 Setup V1.0 is used for

The proprietary software is intended for advanced device configuration.

It is designed for:

  • remapping supported keys;
  • creating and assigning macros;
  • additional lighting configuration;
  • saving supported custom settings.

If the default key assignments and built-in lighting modes are sufficient, the software does not need to be installed.

Remapping keys

The proprietary software allows you to change the functions of supported keys.

  1. Launch K671 Setup V1.0.
  2. Select the required key in the software interface.
  3. Specify the required action.
  4. Apply the changes.
  5. Test the assignment in a regular application before launching a game.
Do not change a large number of keys at once during the initial configuration. Configure a few keys, apply the changes, and test the result. This makes it easier to identify the cause if one of the commands does not work correctly.

Creating macros

K671 supports macro creation through the proprietary software.

  1. Open the macro management section in K671 Setup V1.0.
  2. Create a new macro.
  3. Record the required sequence of keystrokes.
  4. If necessary, configure the available delays between actions.
  5. Save the macro.
  6. Assign it to a supported key.
  7. Apply the settings.
  8. Test the result.
When using macros in games, follow the rules of the specific game. Some types of automation may be prohibited by the game developer or anti-cheat system.

If the Redragon software does not detect K671

The keyboard may work normally in Windows while K671 Setup V1.0 does not detect the device.

In this situation:

  1. Make sure the installed software is specifically for the standard K671 Gaming Keyboard.
  2. Do not use K671-KS software or software for another model.
  3. Connect the keyboard directly to a USB port on the computer.
  4. Do not use a USB hub or docking station for testing.
  5. Try another USB port.
  6. Disconnect the USB-C cable from the keyboard for a few seconds and reconnect it.
  7. Close other Redragon software.
  8. Close K671 Setup V1.0 and launch the software again.
  9. If the problem persists, restart Windows.
If K671 types normally but the proprietary software does not detect it, the standard Windows HID driver is already working. Do not remove the system driver as the first troubleshooting step. In this case, the problem may be limited to the proprietary software or its compatibility with the device.

Do not install K671-KS software

In the official Redragon download center, the standard K671 and K671-KS are listed as separate models.

The standard K671 is a wired keyboard. K671-KS is a different hardware variant and has its own software.

Do not use software, and especially firmware, for K671-KS, K671WBP-KS, or other similar models with the standard K671. Matching characters at the beginning of the model name do not indicate hardware compatibility.

If the keys work incorrectly after installing the wrong software

If problems appeared immediately after installing software for another Redragon keyboard:

  1. Close the incorrect software.
  2. Uninstall it from Windows.
  3. Disconnect K671 from the computer.
  4. Restart Windows.
  5. Reconnect the keyboard without launching any Redragon software.
  6. Test letters, numbers, Enter, Backspace, Space, and other main keys in a text editor.
  7. If the keyboard works normally again, install only the official K671 Setup V1.0 if necessary.

If the incorrect assignments remain, open the correct K671 software and restore the default assignments if this function is available in the current interface.

Removing the wrong software in Windows 11

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
  2. Find the Redragon software for another model.
  3. Open the menu next to its name.
  4. Select Uninstall.
  5. Complete the uninstallation.
  6. Restart Windows.
  7. Connect K671 and first test it without the proprietary software.

Removing the wrong software in Windows 10

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features.
  2. Find the incompatible Redragon software.
  3. Select it and click Uninstall.
  4. Complete the uninstallation.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Test K671 without the software.

Removing the proprietary utility does not remove the standard Windows HID keyboard driver.

If one key does not work

K671 uses mechanical hot-swap switches. Therefore, if one key stops working, you can separate a switch problem from a problem with the keyboard itself.

  1. Disconnect the keyboard from the computer.
  2. Remove the keycap from the problematic key.
  3. Carefully remove the switch using a suitable switch puller.
  4. Check the switch contacts. They should not be bent.
  5. Install a known-good compatible switch.
  6. Connect the keyboard and test it again.

If the key works normally after replacing the switch, the switch itself was the cause.

If the same position still does not work with a known-good switch, the problem may be in the hot-swap socket, PCB, or another hardware component of the keyboard. Reinstalling the HID driver usually does not help in this situation.

If a key registers twice

Repeated input of the same character after a single keypress can sometimes be related to the mechanical switch.

  1. Test the problem in a regular text editor.
  2. Close the Redragon software and repeat the test.
  3. Disconnect the keyboard.
  4. Move the suspected switch to another position or replace it with a known-good compatible switch.
  5. Test the input again.

If the problem moves with the switch, the switch is most likely faulty. If the double input remains in the same position with another switch, the keyboard itself may be the cause.

Do not replace the switch while the keyboard is connected. Before removing the keycap and switch, disconnect the USB cable and install the switch carefully to avoid bending its contacts.

If the lighting does not work

  1. Press FN + Insert several times to switch the mode.
  2. Press FN + ↑ several times to increase the brightness.
  3. Disconnect the keyboard from the USB port for a few seconds.
  4. Connect it again.
  5. Try another USB port.
  6. If K671 Setup V1.0 is installed, check the lighting settings in the software.

If the keyboard works normally but the lighting is absent in all modes and on another computer, the cause may be hardware-related.

If K671 disconnects intermittently

Because the keyboard uses a detachable USB-C cable, if it disconnects intermittently, check the connection first rather than the software.

  1. Insert the USB-C plug firmly into the keyboard.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable directly to the computer.
  3. Try another USB port.
  4. Do not use a USB hub or extension cable during testing.
  5. If you have another known-good USB cable that supports data transfer, test the keyboard with it.
  6. Test K671 on another computer.

If the disconnections continue with different ports, cables, and computers, installing another driver usually will not resolve a hardware problem.

If Windows does not detect K671 at all

If the keyboard does not respond and Windows does not detect the device:

  1. Disconnect the USB-C cable from both ends and reconnect it.
  2. Use another USB port on the computer.
  3. Do not connect the keyboard through a USB hub.
  4. If possible, test another known-good data cable.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. Test K671 on another computer.

If the keyboard works on another computer, you can force Windows to detect the HID device again.

Re-detecting the keyboard in Windows

  1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Keyboards.
  3. If several identical HID keyboards are listed, do not remove all of them.
  4. Disconnect K671 and identify which entry disappears.
  5. Reconnect the keyboard and make sure the corresponding entry appears.
  6. Right-click the specifically identified device and select Uninstall device.
  7. Disconnect the keyboard for a few seconds.
  8. Connect it again.

Windows will automatically reinstall the standard HID driver.

If K671 is not detected even on another computer, installing K671 Setup V1.0 or software for another Redragon model will usually not help. In this case, check the USB-C cable, the connector, and the keyboard itself.
