Redragon K681 / K681MG-RGB-PRO Cyrus Pro is a 75% wireless mechanical keyboard with USB-C, 2.4 GHz, and Bluetooth connectivity. A separate proprietary Redragon driver is not required for normal operation. After the keyboard is connected, Windows automatically uses the standard HID keyboard driver.
For advanced configuration, official Redragon software version 2.0 is available. It is designed for remapping supported keys, creating macros, working with profiles, and more detailed RGB lighting configuration. The software does not need to be installed for connecting the keyboard and normal text input.
Does the Redragon K681 need a driver?
A separate Redragon driver is not required for basic operation.
This applies to all three connection methods:
- wired USB-C connection;
- 2.4 GHz wireless connection;
- Bluetooth.
After a successful connection, Windows automatically detects the device and installs the standard HID components.
If the keyboard types normally, there is no need to look for an additional system driver.
The Redragon software is an additional configuration utility and does not replace the standard Windows HID driver.
Official K681 software
The software should be downloaded from the official Redragon page:
The verified software version was distributed under the following name:
Redragon_K681MG-RGB-PRO_Setup_v2.0_20240429.exe
The software version is 2.0.
The name of the downloaded file on the Redragon website may change over time. Therefore, use the page specifically for K681 as your main reference rather than relying on the EXE filename matching the name on the box.
How to install the Redragon software
- First connect the keyboard and make sure it works normally without the proprietary software.
- Download the software from the K681 page in the official Redragon download center.
- For initial configuration, a wired USB-C connection is recommended.
- Close any Redragon software intended for other keyboards.
- Run the installer.
- Complete the installation.
- Launch the software and check whether the keyboard is detected.
If you only need normal text input, built-in RGB effects, and switching between connection methods, installing the software is optional.
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning
The verified K681 Setup V2.0 installer does not have an Authenticode digital signature. Therefore, Windows 10 or Windows 11 may display a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warning or an unknown publisher message.
If Windows displays “Windows protected your PC” and you are sure you are using the official K681 installer, click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
Connecting K681 via USB-C
Wired mode is convenient for initial configuration, charging, and diagnosing wireless connection problems.
- Set the keyboard switch to OFF.
- Connect the USB-C cable to the keyboard.
- Connect the other end of the cable directly to a USB port on the computer.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Open a text editor and test typing.
If the keyboard works normally over USB, the standard Windows HID driver is installed correctly.
Connecting via 2.4 GHz
The included USB receiver is used for 2.4 GHz wireless mode.
- Set the keyboard switch to 2.4G.
- Connect the included USB receiver directly to the computer.
- Wait a few seconds.
- Test typing.
If the pairing information is saved, the connection is usually restored automatically.
Re-pairing the 2.4 GHz connection
If K681 works via USB or Bluetooth but no longer connects to the included receiver:
- Make sure the keyboard is charged.
- Set the switch to 2.4G.
- Disconnect the USB receiver from the computer.
- Press and hold FN + 4 for approximately 3 seconds.
- The M indicator will start flashing yellow rapidly.
- Connect the included USB receiver to the computer.
- Place the keyboard close to the receiver.
- Wait for pairing to complete.
After a successful connection, the indicator stops flashing rapidly.
Connecting K681 via Bluetooth
The keyboard supports three Bluetooth profiles.

A short press switches between already saved Bluetooth profiles. To pair a new device, press and hold the selected shortcut for approximately 3 seconds until the indicator starts flashing rapidly.
In the list of available Bluetooth devices, the keyboard may appear as BT3.0 Keyboard or BT5.0 Keyboard.
Bluetooth in Windows 11
- Set the K681 switch to BT.
- Press and hold FN + 1, FN + 2, or FN + 3 for approximately 3 seconds.
- Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices.
- Turn on Bluetooth.
- Click Add device.
- Select Bluetooth.
- Select BT3.0 Keyboard or BT5.0 Keyboard.
- Wait for the connection to complete.
Bluetooth in Windows 10
- Set the switch to BT.
- Press and hold FN + 1, FN + 2, or FN + 3 for approximately 3 seconds.
- Open Settings → Devices → Bluetooth & other devices.
- Turn on Bluetooth.
- Select Add Bluetooth or other device.
- Click Bluetooth.
- Select the keyboard from the list.
- Complete the pairing process.
Switching between Bluetooth devices
After the initial pairing, you can quickly switch between three saved devices:
- FN + 1 — Bluetooth 1;
- FN + 2 — Bluetooth 2;
- FN + 3 — Bluetooth 3.
Use a short press to switch. Pressing and holding starts a new pairing process.
If Bluetooth no longer connects
If the keyboard is still listed among saved Windows devices but no longer connects, remove the old pairing and create it again.
Windows 11
- Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices.
- Find the keyboard.
- Open the device menu and select Remove device.
- Set K681 to BT mode.
- Press and hold the required shortcut: FN + 1, FN + 2, or FN + 3.
- Add the keyboard again.
Windows 10
- Open Settings → Devices → Bluetooth & other devices.
- Select the keyboard.
- Click Remove device.
- Start a new pairing mode.
- Select Add Bluetooth or other device → Bluetooth.
- Connect the keyboard again.
Removing the Bluetooth pairing does not remove the system HID driver and does not affect 2.4 GHz mode.
Controlling RGB lighting without software
The main RGB functions can be controlled directly from the keyboard.

Several brightness and speed levels are available. Speed adjustment applies only to dynamic effects.
Custom lighting without software
K681 allows you to create your own lighting configuration directly from the keyboard.
Use the following shortcut:
FN + Backspace
- Switch to custom lighting mode.
- Press and hold FN + Backspace to begin recording the custom configuration.
- Configure the colors of the required keys.
- When finished, use FN + Backspace again to save the configuration.
The FN key itself cannot be programmed separately in custom mode.
Multifunction control knob
K681 has a multifunction rotary control knob.
In normal mode:
- turning it clockwise increases the volume;
- turning it counterclockwise decreases the volume;
- pressing it mutes or unmutes the sound.
To switch the knob to lighting control mode, press and hold it for approximately 3 seconds.
In lighting mode:
- turning the knob changes the brightness;
- pressing it switches between RGB effects.
To control the volume again, press and hold the knob for approximately 3 seconds once more.
Switching between Windows and macOS modes
If the system or multimedia keys do not work correctly, check the operating system mode.
For Windows:
FN + W — hold for approximately 3 seconds.
For macOS:
FN + A — hold for approximately 3 seconds.
How to check the battery level
To display the battery level, use:
FN + ALT
The battery level is displayed using the number row keys. The color and number of illuminated keys provide an approximate indication of the remaining charge.
When the battery level is low, it is recommended to connect the keyboard via USB-C.
Sleep mode
To save power, the wireless K681 automatically reduces power consumption during periods of inactivity.
- after approximately 3 minutes of inactivity, the lighting may turn off;
- after approximately 30 minutes, the keyboard enters a deeper power-saving mode.
To wake the keyboard, press any key and wait for the wireless connection to be restored.
Resetting K681 to factory settings
If the keyboard does not work correctly after configuring the software, macros, or RGB lighting, perform a hardware reset.
Press and hold:
FN + ESC
Hold the shortcut for approximately 3 seconds.
After the reset, select the required connection mode again and test the keyboard before launching the Redragon software.
What the K681 V2.0 software is used for
The proprietary software is intended for advanced configuration.
The software provides supported functions related to:
- key remapping;
- macro creation;
- configuration profiles;
- advanced RGB lighting control.
The software is not required for connecting via USB-C, 2.4 GHz, or Bluetooth.
Creating macros
- Launch the Redragon K681 software.
- Open the macro section.
- Create a new macro.
- Record the required key sequence.
- If necessary, configure the delays.
- Save the macro.
- Assign it to a supported key.
- Apply the changes.
- Test the result.
If the Redragon software does not detect K681
If the keyboard works normally but the proprietary software does not detect the device:
- Make sure the installed software is specifically for K681 / K681MG-RGB-PRO.
- Do not use software for K681-SP, K681GB-PRO-DE, or another version.
- Set the switch to OFF.
- Connect K681 directly to the computer with a USB-C cable.
- Do not use a USB hub or docking station.
- Try another USB port.
- Close other Redragon software.
- Close the K681 software and launch it again.
- If necessary, restart Windows.
If software for another model was previously installed
It is recommended to remove the incompatible Redragon software before installing the correct package.
Windows 11
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Find the Redragon software for another model.
- Open the menu next to its name.
- Select Uninstall.
- Complete the uninstallation.
- Restart Windows.
- If necessary, perform a FN + ESC reset.
- Test K681 without the software.
- Then install the correct K681 software.
Windows 10
- Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features.
- Find the incompatible Redragon software.
- Select it and click Uninstall.
- Complete the uninstallation.
- Restart Windows.
- If necessary, perform FN + ESC.
- Test the keyboard without the proprietary software.
Removing the proprietary software does not remove the standard Windows HID driver.
If neither Bluetooth nor 2.4 GHz works
First test the keyboard in wired mode.
- Set the switch to OFF.
- Connect the USB-C cable.
- Test typing.
If the keyboard works over USB:
- fully charge the device;
- check the switch position;
- repeat the 2.4 GHz pairing process using FN + 4;
- remove the old Bluetooth pairing and create it again;
- try another USB port for the receiver.
If wired mode works, the problem is usually not related to the basic Windows HID driver.
If the 2.4 GHz connection drops intermittently
- Fully charge the keyboard.
- Connect the receiver directly to the computer.
- Do not use a USB hub.
- Try another USB port.
- Move the keyboard closer to the receiver.
- Move the receiver away from devices that may cause radio interference.
- If necessary, repeat the pairing process using FN + 4.
If Bluetooth disconnects intermittently
- Check the keyboard battery level.
- Make sure the correct Bluetooth profile is selected.
- Move the keyboard closer to the computer.
- Remove the old pairing and add the keyboard again.
- Test K681 with another computer or another Bluetooth device.
If the keyboard works reliably over USB and 2.4 GHz but Bluetooth disconnects only on one computer, also check the Bluetooth adapter and its driver.
If one key does not work
K681 supports replaceable mechanical switches. Therefore, if one key stops working, you can first check the switch itself.
- Turn off the keyboard.
- Disconnect the USB-C cable.
- Remove the keycap from the problematic key.
- Carefully remove the switch using a suitable switch puller.
- Check the metal contacts.
- Install a known-good compatible 3-pin or 5-pin switch.
- Turn on the keyboard and test it again.
If the problem moves with the switch, the switch itself is faulty.
If the same position still does not work with a known-good switch, there may be a problem with the hot-swap socket, PCB, or another hardware component.
If a key registers twice
If a single keypress sometimes enters two identical characters:
- Test the key in a standard text editor.
- Close the Redragon software and repeat the test.
- Test the keyboard in wired USB mode.
- If the problem persists, turn off the keyboard.
- Replace the suspected switch with a known-good one.
- Repeat the test.
If the double input moves with the switch, the switch is the cause. If the problem remains in the same position, the hot-swap socket or PCB may be faulty.
If the RGB lighting for one key does not work
If the key itself registers presses but its LED does not work:
- switch between several built-in RGB effects;
- increase the brightness using FN + ↑;
- check the custom RGB profile;
- check the settings in the proprietary software;
- if necessary, perform a FN + ESC reset;
- test the keyboard after restarting it.
If the lighting for one key position does not work in any mode but the key itself works, the RGB LED may have a hardware fault. Replacing the mechanical switch usually does not restore an individual LED.
If Windows does not detect K681 at all
For troubleshooting, use a wired connection:
- set the switch to OFF;
- connect the USB-C cable directly to the computer;
- try another USB port;
- do not use a USB hub;
- if possible, test another known-good USB-C cable that supports data transfer;
- restart Windows;
- test the keyboard on another computer.
If the device works on another computer, you can force Windows to detect the HID keyboard again.
Re-detecting the keyboard in Windows
- Connect K681 via USB.
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboards.
- If several HID keyboards are listed, do not remove all of them.
- Disconnect K681 and identify which entry disappears.
- Reconnect the keyboard and make sure that entry appears again.
- Right-click the specifically identified device.
- Select Uninstall device.
- Disconnect the keyboard for a few seconds.
- Connect it again.
Windows will automatically reinstall the standard HID driver.
If K681 is not detected in wired mode even on another computer, installing different Redragon software will usually not help. In this case, check the USB-C cable, the connector, and the keyboard itself.
