OKI MC332, MC362 and MC562: Scanner Does Not Work in macOS — Driver Installation and Image Capture Setup

Last Updated on 07.08.2026 by DriverNew

If the OKI MC332, MC362 or MC562 prints from a Mac but the scanner is missing from Image Capture, reinstalling the AirPrint queue usually does not help. Scanning with this series requires a separate ICA driver. For a network connection, Network TWAIN must also be enabled, and the application must have access to the local network.

First install the current ICA driver, then test scanning from Image Capture. If scanning is started from the MFP control panel, additional configuration of PC Scan Mode is required and, in secure mode, the Mac must be registered as a network destination. These methods are described separately because the connection is established in different directions.

Quick solution

Install the SCNI_OSX_020000_287548.dmg file, open Image Capture and select the OKI device under Devices for a USB connection or Shared for a network connection. If the network scanner is missing, enable Network TWAIN on the MFP and check port 9967. If a message about remote PC mode appears, select SCAN > Remote Scan > TWAIN on the control panel or set PC Scan Mode > Simple Scan Mode.

Models This Guide Applies To

ICA driver version 2.0.0 supports the following models:

  • OKI MC332dn;
  • OKI MC342dn and MC342dw;
  • OKI MC352dn;
  • OKI MC362dn and MC362w;
  • OKI MC562dn, MC562w and MC562dw;
  • OKI ES3452 MFP;
  • OKI ES5462 MFP and ES5462dw MFP;
  • OKI MPS2731mc.

In macOS windows, the name may be shortened to the model without the letter suffix, for example OKI MC562. The procedure is the same for the listed devices, but menu items on the control panel may differ slightly depending on the model, interface language and firmware version.

First Determine the Connection Type and Where Scanning Is Started

How the Scanner Is UsedWhat Is Required
USB, scanning is started on the MacICA driver, a working USB cable and the OKI device under Devices in Image Capture
Network, scanning is started on the MacICA driver, the same local network, Network TWAIN = ON and port 9967
Remote Scan in Manual or Secure Scan ModeFirst allow remote scanning on the control panel, then click Scan on the Mac. Selecting Remote Scan by itself does not start file transfer.
Scan To Computer is started from the MFP control panelICA driver and OKI ScannerEventWatcher; for a network connection, a registered Mac destination using port 9968 is also required

Do not confuse ports 9967 and 9968

9967 is the Network TWAIN port on the MFP. It is used when the Mac connects to the scanner. 9968 is the default network destination port for this series. It is used when a request is sent from the MFP control panel to a registered Mac. Substituting one port number for the other may result in printing and device discovery working while scanning does not start.

Install the Current OKI ICA Driver

The PostScript print driver and AirPrint queue do not replace the scanner driver. For macOS 10.12–26, ICA driver version 2.0.0 is used:

SCNI_OSX_020000_287548.dmg

The file is available on the ICA Scanner Driver 2.0.0 for OKI MC332, MC362 and MC562 page. The driver interface is available in English and Japanese.

Step 1. Close Scanning Applications

  1. Close Image Capture.
  2. Close programs that may be using the scanner: Preview, Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, NAPS2 and other scanning applications.
  3. If the MFP is connected by USB, temporarily disconnect the USB cable from the Mac.

Step 2. Install the Driver

  1. Wait until the SCNI_OSX_020000_287548.dmg file has finished downloading completely.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file.
  3. Wait for the disk image to mount.
  4. In the window that opens, double-click the OKI Scanner icon.
  5. Confirm the installation and enter the macOS administrator password if prompted.
  6. Wait for the installation completion message.
  7. Close the disk image window and eject it through Finder.
  8. Restart the Mac. For the first installation, this helps restart the scanner discovery service and the OKI ScannerEventWatcher component.

The current driver version contains components for Macs with Intel processors and Apple silicon. If macOS still displays a system prompt to install Rosetta for an auxiliary component, click Install and wait for the installation to finish. Do not download Rosetta from third-party websites or use random Terminal commands.

If macOS Blocks the File from Opening

Follow these steps only for the file with the name specified above and downloaded from the OKI page.

  1. Try to open OKI Scanner once and close the warning.
  2. Open Apple > System Settings > Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll down to the Security section.
  4. Next to the message about the blocked component, click Open Anyway.
  5. Confirm the launch with the user password or Touch ID.

Do not disable Gatekeeper completely. If the name of the blocked file does not match the OKI component, cancel the launch and download the driver again.

Test Scanning from Image Capture

Perform the first test using the built-in macOS application. If scanning works there but does not work in Photoshop, Acrobat or another program, the driver and connection are working correctly and the problem should be investigated in that program’s settings.

  1. Turn on the MFP and wait until it reaches the ready state.
  2. For a USB test, connect the cable directly to the Mac. Do not use a hub, monitor or docking station.
  3. Place one sheet face down on the platen glass. Do not use the ADF for the first test.
  4. Press Command-Пробел, type Image Capture and open the application.
  5. Wait up to one minute for the device list to refresh.
  6. For a USB connection, select the OKI model under Devices.
  7. For a network connection, select the OKI model under Shared.
  8. If a compact window is displayed, click Show Details.
  9. For testing, select the flatbed scanner, a resolution of 300 dpi, the JPEG format and save to the Desktop.
  10. Click Scan.

If the file appears on the Desktop, basic scanning is working. You can then select the ADF, PDF, duplex scanning and another destination folder. If the device does not appear or scanning ends with an error, use the appropriate section below.

If the OKI USB Scanner Is Not Detected

Step 1. Check the Physical Connection

  1. Turn off the MFP.
  2. Disconnect the USB cable from the Mac and MFP.
  3. Inspect the connectors and reconnect the cable.
  4. Connect the device directly to the Mac. Temporarily remove any USB hub, multiport adapter, monitor or docking station from the connection.
  5. Turn on the MFP and wait 1–2 minutes.
  6. If the device still does not appear, try another USB port and a known-good data cable.

Step 2. Check Whether macOS Detects the USB Device Itself

  1. Hold the Option key and open the Apple menu.
  2. Select System Information.
  3. In the left side of the window, open the USB section.
  4. Find OKI, the model name or the multifunction device in the USB tree.
  • If OKI is missing, the problem is with the cable, adapter, USB port or the MFP’s interface itself. Reinstalling the driver will not fix a missing physical connection.
  • If OKI appears under USB but is missing from Image Capture, reinstall the ICA driver and restart the Mac.

Step 3. Perform a Clean Reinstallation of the ICA Driver

First try a normal reinstallation of version 2.0.0. Remove the previous component only if reinstalling over it does not help.

  1. Close Image Capture and all other scanning applications.
  2. In Finder, select Go > Go to Folder.
  3. Enter the path:
/Library/Image Capture/Devices/
  1. Find only the OKI Scanner.app file.
  2. Move it to the Trash and confirm the action with the administrator password. Do not remove any other items from this folder.
  3. Restart the Mac.
  4. Reinstall SCNI_OSX_020000_287548.dmg.
  5. Restart the Mac again, connect the USB cable and check Image Capture.

If the Network Scanner Is Missing from Image Capture

Step 1. Check Whether the MFP Is Accessible by IP Address

  1. On the MFP control panel, press SETTING.
  2. Open View Information > Network > IPv4 Address.
  3. Write down the address, for example 192.168.1.40.
  4. On the Mac, disconnect the VPN during the test.
  5. Enter the MFP’s IP address in the browser address bar:
http://192.168.1.40

If the built-in OKI web page opens, the Mac can see the MFP on the network. If the page does not open, first resolve the network problem:

  • connect the Mac and MFP to the same local network;
  • do not use a guest Wi-Fi network where devices are isolated from each other;
  • check the Ethernet cable or the MFP’s Wi-Fi connection;
  • make sure the IP address did not change after the router restarted;
  • on a work network, confirm that communication is allowed between the VLANs or network segments being used.

Working network printing does not prove that network scanning is allowed: printing and Network TWAIN use different services and ports.

Step 2. Enable Network TWAIN and Check Port 9967

  1. On the MFP control panel, press SETTING.
  2. Open Admin Setup.
  3. Enter the device administrator password and confirm the sign-in. If the factory password has not been changed, the original configuration for this series uses aaaaaa.
  4. Open Scanner Setup.
  5. Open TWAIN Setup.
  6. Select Network TWAIN and set it to ON.
  7. Open Port No. and check that the value is 9967.
  8. Save the settings and return to the main screen.
  9. Restart the MFP and open Image Capture again on the Mac.

Do not change port 9967 unless necessary. If an administrator changed it, the same port number must be used in the connection settings and allowed through the network firewall.

Step 3. Allow Local Network Access in macOS 15–26

  1. Open Apple > System Settings.
  2. Select Privacy & Security.
  3. Open Local Network.
  4. Allow access for the displayed OKI Scanner component, ScannerEventWatcher or scanning application if it is present in the list.
  5. Close Image Capture and open it again.

If the required component is not in the list, first start Image Capture and try to select the network scanner. When the system prompt appears, allow the application to find devices on the local network. In macOS 14 and earlier versions, there may be no separate Local Network section; in that case, skip this step.

Step 4. Repeat Device Discovery

  1. Quit Image Capture completely using Image Capture > Quit Image Capture.
  2. Turn off the MFP for 30 seconds.
  3. Turn the device on and wait until it is fully ready and connected to the network.
  4. Open the MFP’s IP address in the browser again.
  5. Start Image Capture and wait up to one minute.
  6. Expand Shared in the sidebar and select OKI.

If the web page opens on a work network but the scanner cannot connect, ask the administrator to check the outbound connection from the Mac to the MFP’s IP address on TCP port 9967. Do not completely disable the Mac or router firewall.

How to Fix “Please check that the device is set to remote PC mode”

The message appears when Manual Scan Mode or Secure Scan Mode is selected on the MFP but the device has not been switched to remote scanning mode. The driver is installed, but the MFP rejects the request until the user confirms the mode on the control panel.

Quick Solution Without Changing Settings

  1. On the MFP control panel, press SCAN.
  2. Select Remote Scan and press OK.
  3. Make sure TWAIN is selected and press OK.
  4. Return to the Mac.
  5. In Image Capture, select OKI and click Scan.

Selecting Remote Scan only allows the computer to access the scanner. The file is not transferred until the user clicks Scan in the application on the Mac.

If Secure Scan Mode Is Used

  1. On the control panel, select SCAN > Remote Scan > TWAIN.
  2. Select Select a connecting PC.
  3. For a network connection, select From Network, then the registered Mac. For USB, select From USB.
  4. Press MONO or COLOR to confirm access for the selected computer.
  5. On the Mac, open Image Capture, select OKI and click Scan.

If the required Mac is not in the list, register it as a Network Scan Destination using the instructions below. This entry uses the Mac’s address and destination port 9968.

How to Avoid Selecting Remote Scan Every Time

For a personal device, you can enable simple mode:

  1. Press SETTING.
  2. Open Admin Setup and enter the administrator password.
  3. Open Scanner Setup.
  4. Select PC Scan Mode.
  5. Set Simple Scan Mode.
  6. Save the change and return to the main screen.
PC Scan ModeHow It Works
Simple Scan ModeScanning can be started from the Mac without first selecting Remote Scan on the control panel. Suitable for a personal or controlled device.
Manual Scan ModeBefore making a request from the Mac, you must select SCAN > Remote Scan > TWAIN on the control panel.
Secure Scan ModeConfirmation on the control panel is required. When sending a scan from the MFP over the network, a previously registered computer is also selected.

In a shared office, do not change Secure Scan Mode to Simple Scan Mode without approval: secure mode prevents remote scanning from being started without someone taking action at the MFP.

How to Configure Scan To Computer — Start and Save from the MFP Control Panel

Scan To Computer and Remote Scan are different functions. In Remote Scan mode, the user confirms access on the control panel and then clicks Scan on the Mac. In Scan To Computer mode, the job is started by pressing MONO or COLOR on the MFP, after which the OKI ScannerEventWatcher component transfers it to the Mac.

For this series, saving to a folder is available on the Mac. In modern versions of macOS, automatic application launch may be restricted by permissions, so before testing, open Image Capture and select the OKI device.

Scan To Computer with a USB Connection

  1. Connect the MFP directly to the Mac via USB.
  2. Open Image Capture and select OKI under Devices.
  3. Place the document face up in the ADF or face down on the platen glass.
  4. On the control panel, press SCAN.
  5. Select Computer.
  6. Select Scan To Computer or Scan to connected PC. The name depends on the language and firmware version.
  7. Select From USB.
  8. Open Select Application and select Folder. For Mac, this is the main supported destination option.
  9. Press MONO or COLOR.
  10. Wait for the job to finish and check the folder configured for saving scans.

If nothing happens after pressing the button, first make sure normal USB scanning works from Image Capture. Then check whether OKI ScannerEventWatcher is allowed to run and whether the OKI component has the required access under Privacy & Security.

Step 1. Register the Mac for Scan To Computer over the Network

  1. On the Mac, open Apple > System Settings > Network.
  2. Select the active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection and open its details.
  3. Write down the Mac’s IPv4 address. Do not use the MFP’s IP address.
  4. On the OKI control panel, press SETTING.
  5. Open Network Scan Destination.
  6. Select an unused number and press Register.
  7. In the Destination field, enter a clear Mac name no longer than 16 characters.
  8. In the Destination Address field, enter the Mac’s IPv4 address.
  9. In the Port No. field, enter 9968. This is the default network destination port for this series, not Network TWAIN port 9967.
  10. Save the entry.

Step 2. Start Network Scan To Computer

  1. On the Mac, open Image Capture, select the network OKI device under Shared and leave the application open.
  2. Place the document in the ADF or on the platen glass.
  3. On the MFP control panel, press SCAN.
  4. Select Computer.
  5. Select Scan To Computer or Scan to connected PC.
  6. Select From Network.
  7. Select the registered Mac name.
  8. Open Select Application and select Folder.
  9. Press MONO or COLOR.
  10. Wait for the transfer to finish and check the save folder on the Mac.

If the Mac name appears in the list but the job does not start, check its IPv4 address again. The address may have changed after reconnecting to Wi-Fi or restarting the router. Edit Destination Address or reserve the Mac’s address in the router’s DHCP settings.

If normal network scanning from Image Capture works but Scan To Computer from the control panel does not, open Apple > System Settings > Network > Firewall and check the incoming connection settings. Allow incoming connections for OKI Scanner or ScannerEventWatcher if the corresponding component is present in the list. Do not disable the firewall completely. On a work network, traffic from the MFP to the Mac must be allowed on the configured destination port, usually 9968.

If the current driver version does not include the old Network Scanner Setup Tool

In older manuals, the Mac destination was registered using a separate utility from the /Applications/OKIDATA/Scanner/ folder. The current 2.0.0 package installs the ICA component and ScannerEventWatcher, but the separate utility may not appear in Applications. Do not search for an outdated installer on third-party websites: register the Mac address through the Network Scan Destination menu on the MFP. If automatic Scan To Computer remains unavailable, use the reliable option — open Image Capture and start scanning by clicking the button on the Mac.

If Printing Through AirPrint Works but the Scanner Is Missing

AirPrint confirms that the Mac can send print jobs, but it does not install the OKI Scanner.app component and does not enable Network TWAIN on the MFP. Therefore, perform the following steps in order:

    1. Do not remove the working AirPrint queue.
    2. Install the separate ICA driver version 2.0.0.
    3. Check the scanner in Image Capture.
  1. For a network connection, enable Network TWAIN and check port 9967.
  2. In macOS 15–26, check the Local Network permission.

Resetting the printing system does not reinstall the ICA driver and may remove other printer queues. Do not use it to fix a missing scanner. Also, do not install Windows TWAIN/WIA drivers on a Mac and do not select a driver for a similar model.

If the Scanner Disappeared After a macOS Update

  1. Check that you are using the current SCNI_OSX_020000_287548.dmg file rather than an older saved version.
  2. Reinstall ICA driver 2.0.0 over the existing installation.
  3. Restart the Mac.
  4. In macOS 15–26, check Privacy & Security > Local Network again.
  5. Check the USB connection in System Information or verify that the MFP’s IP address is accessible in a browser.
  6. For a network connection, check Network TWAIN = ON and port 9967 again.
  7. If a normal reinstallation does not help, remove only OKI Scanner.app from /Library/Image Capture/Devices/, restart the Mac and reinstall the driver.

If an Older Version of OS X Is Installed

Do not install driver 2.0.0 on a system for which it is not intended. Different versions of the ICA driver are available on this series’ download page:

  • version 2.0.0 — for macOS 10.12–26;
  • version 1.2.0 — for OS X 10.8–10.11;
  • version 1.0.2 — for Mac OS X 10.3–10.7.

First open Apple > About This Mac and determine the exact system version, then download the appropriate ICA driver from your model’s support page. Do not install several different versions at the same time.
