To print and scan with a Canon PIXMA MG2400 series multifunction printer, you need to install the MP Drivers package. It contains the printer driver, scanner driver, and essential components required to use the multifunction printer via USB.
This guide applies to the following models:
Canon PIXMA MG2400, MG2410, MG2420, MG2440, MG2450, MG2460, MG2470, MG2480, and MG2490.
The model name depends on the country where the device is sold. All the devices listed above belong to the Canon PIXMA MG2400 series family and use the same driver package for Windows.
Do not connect the USB cable until prompted by the installer
Before starting the program, disconnect the multifunction printer’s USB cable from the computer. Connect it only after the “Connect Cable” window appears. If you connect the device to the computer beforehand, Windows may automatically install an unsuitable or incomplete driver.
What you will need for the installation
- A Canon PIXMA MG2400 series multifunction printer.
- A computer or laptop running Windows 11 or Windows 10.
- A printer USB cable.
- The Canon MG2400 series MP Drivers installation file.
- A Windows account with administrator privileges.
A standard printer USB cable is used for the connection. One connector is flat and connects to the computer. The other connector is almost square and connects to the multifunction printer.
It is recommended to use a working cable no longer than 3 meters and connect it directly to a USB port on the computer, without using a hub, splitter, or docking station.
Step 1. Download the Canon MG2400 series driver
- Open the official Canon page:
Download the Canon PIXMA MG2400 series driver - Find the Download button on the Canon page.
- If necessary, select the checkbox confirming that you agree to the download terms.
- Click Download.
- If the browser asks where to save the file, select the Downloads folder.
- Wait until the download is complete.
After downloading, check the filename. It should begin with:
mp68-win-mg2400-
The final part of the filename may change if Canon releases an updated driver package.
The download page may be displayed in English
This does not affect the language of the installation program. The installation file supports multiple languages and usually selects the language installed in Windows automatically.
If the program opens in another language, you can change it using the Language button in the first installer window.
Step 2. Prepare the multifunction printer and computer
- Close Microsoft Word, PDF viewers, browsers, and other running applications.
- If the USB cable is already connected to the computer, disconnect it.
- Turn off the multifunction printer using the power button.
- Leave the multifunction printer’s power cable connected to the electrical outlet.
- Do not reconnect the USB cable yet.
If a previous attempt to install another driver was unsuccessful, restart the computer before continuing.
Step 3. Run the installation file
- Press Windows + E.
- On the left side of the File Explorer window, select the Downloads folder.
- Find the file whose name begins with
mp68-win-mg2400-. - Double-click the file with the left mouse button.
- Wait while the installer extracts the files.
- If a “User Account Control” window appears asking “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”, click Yes.
After the files have been extracted, the installation program should start automatically.
If the program does not open:
- Right-click the downloaded file.
- Select Run as administrator.
- In the User Account Control window, click Yes.
Step 4. Continue the installation in the “Welcome” window
The “Welcome” window will open. It states that the program will install MP Drivers on the computer.
During the verified installation on Windows 10, Russian was selected automatically.
- Make sure that the USB cable is still disconnected from the computer.
- If the window is displayed in English, click Next >.
- If another language is selected, click Language.
- Select the required language.
- Confirm your selection and return to the “Welcome” window.
- Click Next >.
At this stage, you do not need to manually select the multifunction printer model, country, or connection method.
Step 5. Accept the license agreement
The “License Agreement” window will open on the next screen.
- Read the Canon software terms of use if necessary.
- To continue, click Yes.
If you click No, the program will close and the drivers will not be installed.
Step 6. Wait for the “Connect Cable” window
After you accept the license agreement, the program will begin copying and registering the required files.
During this stage:
- do not connect the USB cable too early;
- do not close the installer;
- do not turn off the computer;
- do not run another printer installation program.
After a while, the “Connect Cable” window will appear on the screen.
Step 7. Connect the multifunction printer to the computer
In the “Connect Cable” window, the program will ask you to connect the multifunction printer to the computer using a USB cable and then turn on the device.
Complete the steps in the following order:
- Connect the almost square USB cable connector to the port on the back of the multifunction printer.
- Connect the flat connector directly to a USB port on the computer.
- Do not use a USB hub, docking station, monitor, or splitter.
- Press the power button on the multifunction printer.
- Make sure that the green power indicator lights up.
- Wait for the program to detect the connected device.
Detection may take several minutes. After the multifunction printer has been detected successfully, the “Connect Cable” window will close automatically.
Do not interrupt the installation at this stage
Do not click Cancel, turn off the multifunction printer, or disconnect the USB cable while the program is waiting to detect the device.
If the installation was interrupted in the “Connect Cable” window, simply reconnecting the USB cable is not enough. Close the program, restart the computer, and start the installation again.
If the installer does not detect the multifunction printer
If the “Connect Cable” window remains on the screen for more than several minutes, complete the following steps:
- Make sure that the multifunction printer is turned on.
- Check whether the orange error indicator is flashing.
- Insert the USB cable firmly into the multifunction printer’s port.
- Disconnect the flat end of the cable from the computer.
- Wait approximately 10 seconds.
- Connect the cable to another USB port.
- If you are using a desktop computer, try a port on the back of the computer case.
- Do not connect the multifunction printer through a USB hub or extension cable.
- If another working printer cable is available, try replacing the cable.
- After reconnecting the device, wait another few minutes.
If the device is still not detected:
- Click Cancel.
- Close the installer.
- Turn off the multifunction printer.
- Disconnect the USB cable.
- Restart the computer.
- Repeat the installation from the beginning.
Step 8. Complete the installation
After detecting the multifunction printer, the program will continue installing and registering the printer and scanner drivers.
- Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the multifunction printer.
- Wait for the message confirming that the installation was completed successfully.
- Click Complete, Finish, or another completion button that appears on the screen.
- If the program prompts you to restart the computer, save any open documents and agree to restart it.

- Press Windows + R.
- Enter the following command:
control printers

- The “Devices and Printers” window will open.
- Find Canon MG2400 series Printer.
- Right-click the icon.

What to do if Windows added the multifunction printer before the driver was installed
If the USB cable was connected beforehand, Windows may have added Canon MG2400 series automatically but installed only some of the required components.
Signs of this problem include:
- the “Driver is unavailable” message appears next to the device;
- the multifunction printer is present in the list but does not print;
- printing works, but the scanner is not detected;
- several identical copies of the printer appear in Windows.
To fix this:
- Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
- Open Printers & scanners in Windows Settings.
- Select the previously added Canon MG2400 series device.
- Click Remove or Remove device.
- If several identical copies are listed, remove them.
- Restart the computer.
- Run the Canon installation file again.
- Connect the USB cable only after the “Connect Cable” window appears.
Important information for computers with ARM processors
The standard driver may not work on Windows 11 ARM
The Canon MG2400 series MP Drivers package is designed for standard computers with Intel and AMD processors.
On laptops with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite, Snapdragon X Plus, or Microsoft SQ processors, the installation may not be completed, or the printing and scanning functions may not work correctly.
To check the computer type:
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select System.
- Find the System type line.
If the line shows ARM or ARM64, the installation problem may be caused by driver incompatibility.
