Redragon K552P-KR EU is a wired USB keyboard with RGB backlighting. A separate Redragon driver does not need to be installed for normal text input: Windows uses the standard system HID driver. Additional Redragon Software is required to configure supported keyboard functions, including individual RGB configuration.
Part 1. Installing and connecting Redragon K552P-KR EU
What needs to be installed
For Redragon K552P-KR EU, it is important to distinguish between three different components:
- Windows HID driver — the system driver that allows the keyboard to work as a normal input device. Windows 11 and Windows 10 usually install it automatically.
- Redragon Software — additional software for configuring keyboard functions and RGB backlighting.
- Firmware — the keyboard’s internal firmware. Updating firmware is not required for a normal Software installation.
If the keyboard already types text after being connected via USB, this means the system HID driver is installed and working. Redragon Software is installed not so that Windows can recognize the keyboard, but to provide access to additional settings.
Which software is suitable for K552P-KR EU
The European K552P-KR EU variant uses separate EU Software designed for the regional UK, DE, ES, and FR keyboard versions.
The official installer may be found under the following names:
Redragon_K552P-KR_EU_UK_DE_ES_FR_GAMING_KEYBOARD.exeRedragon_K552P-KR_EU_UK_Software.exe
The verified versions of these two files are completely identical.

Connecting the keyboard
Redragon K552P-KR EU is a wired USB keyboard. Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless, and a battery are not used on this model.
- Connect the keyboard’s USB cable directly to a USB port on the computer.
- Wait for Windows to automatically detect the new HID device.
- Check text input, for example in Notepad or the Windows search box.
- Only then install Redragon Software if RGB or other available functions need to be configured.
If you are using a desktop computer and problems occur, it is best to first connect the keyboard to a USB port directly on the system unit rather than through a USB hub, monitor, docking station, or extension cable.
Checking the keyboard in Windows 11
If the keyboard does not work correctly even before Redragon Software is installed, first check it as a regular USB device.
- Right-click the Start button.
- Open Device Manager.
- Check the Keyboards and Human Interface Devices sections.
- Make sure Windows does not show an unknown USB device or a device with a warning icon after the keyboard is connected.
You can also open:
Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices
The absence of the Redragon name in this window does not by itself indicate a problem. A HID keyboard may appear under a standard system name.
Checking the keyboard in Windows 10
In Windows 10, use Device Manager in the same way:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Check the Keyboards and Human Interface Devices sections.
If the keyboard types text normally, reinstalling the standard Windows HID driver is usually not necessary.
Installing Redragon Software
- Make sure you are using the installer specifically for K552P-KR EU.
- Connect the keyboard to a USB port on the computer.
- Close any previously installed Redragon program for another K552 keyboard if such a program is running.
- Run the official EXE file by double-clicking it.
- If Windows displays a User Account Control prompt, check the name of the file being launched and allow it to run only if the installer was obtained from a trusted source.
- Complete the installation by following the installer’s instructions.
- After installation is complete, start the Redragon program.
- Check whether the software recognizes the connected keyboard and whether its settings become available.
If Redragon Software was already installed for another K552
Similar model names may cause a user to install software intended for another variant. In this case, it is better to install the correct EU Software after removing the unsuitable program.
Windows 11
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Find the previously installed Redragon program for another K552 model.
- Uninstall it.
- Restart Windows.
- Connect K552P-KR EU.
- Install the correct EU Software.
Windows 10
- Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features.
- Find the unsuitable Redragon program.
- Uninstall it.
- Restart the computer.
- Install Software for K552P-KR EU.
There is no need to remove all HID keyboards from Device Manager just because the Redragon program is being changed. The system HID driver and Redragon Software perform different tasks.
Part 2. RGB configuration and troubleshooting
Configuring RGB through Redragon Software
K552P-KR EU supports backlight configuration through the correct EU Software. This is important because without the software, the user primarily sees the built-in lighting modes and may mistakenly assume that individual key configuration is unavailable.
After installing the software:
- Connect the keyboard directly to the computer.
- Start Redragon Software.
- Make sure the software has detected the keyboard.
- Open the lighting settings section.
- Select the required RGB mode.
- If the selected mode supports individual key configuration, set the colors for the required keys in the software interface.
- Apply or save the settings using the software.
The names of individual buttons and interface sections in Software may differ depending on the software version. Therefore, when configuring the keyboard, use the lighting control section and the keyboard image rather than instructions for another K552 version.
Individual RGB configuration is not visible without the software
If the user switches only between the built-in effects directly from the keyboard, it may appear that the model supports only preset RGB modes.
For K552P-KR EU, individual configuration through the corresponding Software works separately from the set of built-in effects.
If you need to assign different colors to individual keys:
- Make sure the EU version of Software for K552P-KR EU is installed.
- Start the software while the keyboard is connected.
- Open the RGB settings.
- Select a mode that allows individual keys to be changed.
- Configure the required keys on the virtual keyboard image.
- Apply the changes.
If only preset effects are available, first check whether the correct software is installed. Do not install Software for K552P-KB or another K552 in an attempt to obtain additional RGB functions.
The software shows the wrong key or one key does not change color
K552P-KR EU has an important feature related to the regional UK, DE, ES, and FR layouts.
The physical keyboard layout and the virtual layout shown by Redragon Software may not match completely. As a result, an individual key on a regional layout may appear in the software as a different key.
For example, the following situation may occur:
- the key types its symbol normally in Windows;
- the physical key press is detected;
- the RGB backlighting of the other keys can be configured;
- the required key is positioned or labeled incorrectly on the virtual keyboard image;
- selecting this key in Software changes the color of another position or the required key does not respond to the expected setting.
This does not necessarily mean there is a physical problem with the keyboard.
How to distinguish a regional key map error from a key malfunction
| Check | Layout error in Software | Possible hardware problem |
|---|---|---|
| The key types a symbol | Yes | May not work or may respond intermittently |
| Windows detects the key press | Yes | Missed presses or no response may occur |
| The problem appears only when configuring RGB | Typical sign | Not necessarily |
| Software shows a different key | Typical sign | Usually not |
| Other RGB keys can be configured normally | Usually yes | Depends on the malfunction |
If the key works normally as an input key but the problem occurs only inside Redragon Software, the likely cause is a mismatch between the software’s virtual regional key map and the physical UK, DE, ES, or FR version.
What to do
- Make sure the EU version of the software for K552P-KR EU is installed.
- Do not replace it with software for K552P-KB, K552-KR, or another similar model.
- Check adjacent key positions on the virtual keyboard image. In some cases, a physical regional key may correspond to a different position in Software.
- Check the operation of the key itself in a regular text editor.
- If input works normally and the error appears only when selecting an RGB color in the software, do not reinstall the system HID driver unless necessary.
Redragon Software does not detect the keyboard
If Windows allows you to type text but the Redragon program reports that the device was not found, the problem is usually not with the system HID driver but with Software compatibility with the specific keyboard variant or with the device connection.
Check in this order:
- Close Redragon Software.
- Disconnect the keyboard from USB.
- Connect it directly to another USB port on the computer.
- Wait for Windows to detect the keyboard.
- Check text input.
- Start Software again.
If the problem remains, check the name of the installed software. K552P-KR EU should use the corresponding EU version.
If software for another K552 was previously installed, remove it and perform a clean installation of the correct EU Software.
The keyboard works, but RGB does not change through the software
If text input works but RGB changes from Software are not applied:
- Make sure the software has actually detected the device rather than simply opened its interface.
- Check that Software specifically for K552P-KR EU is being used.
- Select another available lighting mode and try applying the change.
- Close the software and start it again while the keyboard is connected.
- Try another USB port on the computer.
- If software for another K552 is installed, remove it and install EU Software.
If most keys can be configured normally and the problem affects only one key on the regional layout, use the diagnostics in the section above. The cause may be an incorrect mapping between the physical and virtual key in Software.
After installing Software, the keyboard types the wrong characters
If different characters appear when keys are pressed, first check the Windows keyboard layout. RGB control software and the Windows language layout are different things.
Windows 11
Open:
Settings → Time & language → Language & region
Check the installed languages and keyboard layouts.
Windows 10
Open:
Settings → Time & language → Language
Check the keyboard layout being used.
For example, a physical UK, DE, ES, or FR keyboard may not match the layout selected in Windows. In this case, the characters displayed on the screen will differ from the markings on the keys even though the keyboard itself is technically working correctly.
Software stopped working after a Windows update
If the keyboard continues to type after a Windows update but Redragon Software stops detecting the device, do not change the system HID drivers first.
- Restart Windows.
- Disconnect and reconnect the keyboard.
- Check another USB port.
- Make sure the keyboard still works as an input device.
- Close the Redragon program completely and start it again.
- If the software still does not detect the device, remove only Redragon Software and reinstall the correct version.
If normal text input continues to work, this confirms that the Windows HID subsystem is functioning and that the problem should be investigated separately in Software or its interaction with the keyboard.
How to reinstall the software without removing the HID driver
Windows 11
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Find Redragon Software.
- Uninstall the program.
- Restart the computer.
- Connect K552P-KR EU.
- Make sure the keyboard types normally.
- Install EU Software again.
Windows 10
- Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features.
- Uninstall Redragon Software.
- Restart the computer.
- Check normal keyboard operation.
- Install the appropriate EU Software again.
There is no need to remove the standard HID Keyboard Device entries from Device Manager during a normal software reinstallation.
The keyboard does not work at all in Windows
If even normal text input does not work after connection, troubleshooting should not begin with Redragon Software.
- Disconnect the keyboard from USB.
- Connect it to another USB port.
- If possible, do not use a USB hub or docking station.
- Test the keyboard on another computer.
- Open Device Manager and check whether a new device appears after connection.
If K552P-KR EU is not detected and does not work on several computers, installing or reinstalling Redragon Software usually does not resolve such a problem because the configuration software does not replace the basic USB/HID connection.
Do not install firmware from a similar K552
If the keyboard works normally as a HID device but the problem exists only in Redragon Software, a firmware update should not be the first troubleshooting method.
What should not be taken from instructions for other K552 models
For K552P-KR EU, key combinations or service procedures published for other K552 variants should not be applied automatically.
Unless specifically confirmed for K552P-KR EU, it is not recommended to use instructions that specify the following combinations for mode control or settings reset:
- Fn + Ins;
- Fn + Home;
- Fn + PgUp;
- Fn + Del;
- Fn + End;
- Fn + PgDn.
For the same reason, unconfirmed Factory Reset instructions or switch replacement recommendations from another keyboard version should not be applied to K552P-KR EU.
If you need to change RGB or another function for which there is no confirmed hardware key combination specifically for K552P-KR EU, it is safer to configure it through the EU Software designed for this variant.
