Redragon K721WRB-RGB STORMHUNTER: driver, software, Rapid Trigger, and magnetic switch configuration in Windows 11/10

Last Updated on 18.09.2026 by DriverNew

Redragon K721WRB-RGB STORMHUNTER is a wired gaming keyboard with Hall Effect magnetic switches. Unlike a conventional mechanical keyboard, it allows you to adjust the key actuation point through software, use Rapid Trigger, configure additional actions, and select a higher polling rate.

A separate Redragon system driver is not required for normal typing: after connecting via USB, Windows automatically uses standard HID drivers. The proprietary software is required for advanced configuration of the magnetic switches, RGB lighting, macros, and key assignments.

Important: the official K721 archive contains not only the configuration software but also a separate firmware update utility. Do not run the firmware updater as a required installation step. For normal keyboard configuration, the main Redragon software is sufficient.

What is included in the official K721WRB-RGB_TOOL.zip archive

The official archive contains two different EXE files:

File Purpose
Redragon K721WRB-RGB_Installer_V2.06.02.exe Main software for configuring the keyboard.
K721WRB-RGB update tool YBY335CKB_W669KBFR_7502USHEXYXREHJARGB V3.13.01 CS_C7FE91.exe Separate utility for updating the internal firmware.

For normal installation and configuration, use the first file — V2.06.02.

The second file is not a Windows driver and is not required for normal keyboard operation.

Does the Redragon K721 require a separate driver?

No. A separate Redragon system driver is not required for basic operation.

  1. Connect the K721 to your computer with a USB cable.
  2. Wait a few seconds.
  3. Windows will automatically detect the keyboard.
  4. Open any text editor.
  5. Check the letter keys, number keys, Space, Enter, and other main keys.

If the keyboard types normally, the standard HID driver is already installed and working.

There is no need to search for a separate universal K721 driver or use automatic driver update utilities.

K721WRB-RGB is a wired keyboard

This model uses a wired USB connection. Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz mode are not available on the K721WRB-RGB.

If a separate download page or description contains a generic reference to a wireless keyboard, rely on the specifications of the K721WRB-RGB itself: the device connects via USB.

Where to download the software

Use the official Redragon software catalog:

Redragon software

Find K721WRB-RGB and download the official archive.

After extracting it, run:

Redragon K721WRB-RGB_Installer_V2.06.02.exe

Installing the software in Windows 11

  1. Connect the K721 directly to a USB port on your computer.
  2. Check normal text input before installing the software.
  3. Extract the downloaded ZIP archive to a separate folder.
  4. Run Redragon K721WRB-RGB_Installer_V2.06.02.exe.
  5. If Windows displays the publisher, the name may differ from Redragon — the verified installer is signed by a company associated with the manufacturer of the keyboard controller.
  6. Follow the steps in the installer.
  7. After installation, do not disconnect the keyboard.
  8. Launch the Redragon software.
  9. Make sure the K721 is detected in the interface.

Installing the software in Windows 10

  1. Connect the keyboard directly to the computer.
  2. Wait for Windows to install the standard HID device.
  3. Check text input.
  4. Extract the official ZIP archive.
  5. Run Redragon K721WRB-RGB_Installer_V2.06.02.exe.
  6. Complete the installation.
  7. Launch the software while the keyboard is connected.

If the software says Device not detected

One of the problems reported by K721 owners is that the keyboard works normally in Windows, but the software reports that the device is not connected.

If normal typing works, this means that the standard Windows HID driver is already functioning. Do not begin troubleshooting by removing it.

Check the following:

  1. Close Redragon Software.
  2. Connect the keyboard directly to a USB port on the computer.
  3. Do not use a USB hub, monitor, or docking station for this test.
  4. Try another USB port.
  5. Make sure that V2.06.02 is installed.
  6. Close configuration software for other keyboards.
  7. Launch Redragon Software again.
If an older version of the software does not detect the K721, install the current official V2.06.02 first. Users have reported cases in which a newer official version of the software started detecting the keyboard correctly.

Web Driver — configuration without regular software

A web configurator is also available for the K721 and can be used as an alternative to the locally installed software.

Web Driver for Redragon K721

This option may be useful if:

  • you do not want to install the regular software;
  • the local software does not detect the keyboard;
  • you need to quickly check the available settings;
  • you want to compare the behavior of the Web Driver and the installed software.

Before using the Web Driver, connect the keyboard directly to a USB port.

How the K721 differs from a conventional mechanical keyboard

The K721 uses Hall Effect magnetic switches. A key press is detected not by a conventional metal electrical contact, but by a change in the magnetic field.

This makes it possible to adjust the point at which a key is considered pressed through software and to use Rapid Trigger.

Therefore, a significant part of the configuration differs from that of a conventional mechanical keyboard.

What is the actuation point?

The actuation point determines how far a key must be pressed before the keystroke is registered.

A lower value makes the key more sensitive. A higher value requires a deeper press.

For gaming, a sensitive setting can improve responsiveness, but the minimum value is not always the best choice.

Do not immediately set the minimum actuation point for the entire keyboard. If sensitivity is too high, accidental keystrokes may occur from a light touch of a finger.

How to configure the actuation point

A practical configuration procedure:

  1. Open the magnetic switch section in the software.
  2. Select one or more gaming keys.
  3. Adjust the actuation point in small increments.
  4. Apply the setting.
  5. Test the keys in a game.
  6. Also test normal typing separately.

For WASD and other gaming keys, you can use more sensitive settings, while leaving a deeper actuation point for letters that are frequently pressed when typing.

What is Rapid Trigger?

Rapid Trigger changes the way a magnetic key is reset and reactivated.

With a conventional fixed actuation point, the key must travel a certain distance upward before the system is ready to register the next press. Rapid Trigger allows the key to reset and reactivate more quickly based on its actual movement.

This is especially useful for movement keys in games.

How to start configuring Rapid Trigger

It is not recommended to immediately enable the most sensitive Rapid Trigger setting for every key.

  1. Start with WASD or a few keys where the feature is actually needed.
  2. Select a moderate sensitivity.
  3. Apply the changes.
  4. Test rapid repeated keystrokes.
  5. Check for accidental activations.
  6. Only then reduce the values further.

Double or accidental keystrokes appeared after enabling Rapid Trigger

If false activations occur after configuration:

  1. Restore a deeper actuation point.
  2. Reduce Rapid Trigger sensitivity.
  3. Test one problematic key first.
  4. If the problem appeared after changing many settings, restore the default settings.

If the problem disappears after restoring the default settings, the cause was most likely an overly sensitive configuration rather than a malfunction of the HID driver.

Two actions on one key

The K721 supports assigning different actions depending on how deeply a key is pressed.

For example, the first action can be triggered by a shallow press, while the second can be triggered by a deeper press.

It is recommended to configure this feature gradually:

  1. Select one test key.
  2. Assign two easily distinguishable actions.
  3. Set a sufficient difference between the two points.
  4. Apply the setting.
  5. Test several slow key presses.
  6. Then test fast gaming keystrokes.

If the two points are too close together, the user may unintentionally activate the second action.

Polling rate up to 8000 Hz

The software allows you to select a higher keyboard polling rate of up to 8000 Hz.

A higher rate means that the computer receives key state data more frequently. However, the difference between modes may not be noticeable in every application or on every computer.

The maximum value is not required for normal use.

If instability, missed inputs, or other unusual symptoms appear after selecting 8000 Hz:

  1. Restore a lower polling rate.
  2. Connect the keyboard directly to a USB port on the computer.
  3. Do not use a USB hub.
  4. Restart the software.
  5. Test input again.

Configuring macros

Macros are available in the software.

For the first test, it is recommended to create a short sequence:

  1. Open the macro editor.
  2. Create a new macro.
  3. Record several simple keystrokes.
  4. Configure the available delays if necessary.
  5. Assign the macro to a key.
  6. Apply the changes.
  7. Test the result in a text editor or another safe application.

Only after a successful test should you proceed to more complex macros.

Keys work incorrectly after configuration

If keys respond incorrectly after remapping, configuring Rapid Trigger, or assigning a macro:

  1. Open the K721 software.
  2. Find the settings that were recently changed.
  3. Restore the default assignments.
  4. Disable the problematic macro.
  5. Restore a more conventional actuation point.
  6. Test the keyboard in a text editor.

If it is difficult to determine which setting caused the problem, you can restore the keyboard to its factory settings.

Factory reset

Key combination Action
Fn + Esc, hold for about 3 seconds Restore the keyboard to factory settings.

A reset is worth trying after unsuccessful changes to macros, Rapid Trigger, the actuation point, or lighting.

Factory Reset is not a firmware update.

Controlling RGB without the software

The main lighting functions are available directly from the keyboard.

Key combination Function
Fn + PgDn Switch between RGB lighting modes.
Fn + Space Turn the lighting on or off.
Fn + PgUp Change the color for supported effects.
Fn + Backspace Switch to custom lighting configuration.

Therefore, installing the software only to switch between basic RGB effects is not necessary.

What to do if RGB or settings are not saved

Do not automatically assume that every software feature is necessarily stored in the keyboard’s internal memory in the same way.

To check:

  1. Change only one setting.
  2. Apply the change.
  3. Close the software.
  4. Check the result.
  5. Disconnect and reconnect the keyboard.
  6. Check whether the setting was retained.

If a particular feature is retained only while the software is running, this does not necessarily indicate a driver malfunction.

The software supports profiles, but not all settings are handled by profiles in the same way

Users report that the software allows them to work with profiles for macros, lighting, and some functions, but certain magnetic switch and Rapid Trigger settings may have limitations when saving multiple independent profiles.

Therefore, before creating different gaming configurations, it is recommended to check exactly which settings actually change when switching profiles.

Do not run the firmware updater unless necessary

The official archive contains a separate update utility:

K721WRB-RGB update tool ... V3.13.01 ... .exe

It is intended to update the keyboard’s internal firmware and is not the regular configuration software.

Do not run the firmware update simply because the file is located next to the installer. If the keyboard works normally, the software detects it, and the manufacturer does not require an update to resolve a specific problem, updating the firmware unnecessarily is not recommended.

When the firmware updater may be needed

It is reasonable to use this utility only when:

  • the manufacturer explicitly recommends an update for your K721;
  • the update resolves a specific confirmed problem;
  • you have the exact hardware revision for which the file is intended;
  • the keyboard is stably connected via USB.

If a firmware update is performed

During the update:

  • connect the keyboard directly to the computer;
  • do not use a USB hub;
  • do not disconnect the cable;
  • do not turn off the computer;
  • do not close Upgrade Tool while data is being written;
  • do not run other keyboard configuration programs at the same time.

Interrupting a firmware write operation is potentially more dangerous than a normal Redragon Software installation error.

Do not use firmware from another model

For the K721, firmware must not be selected solely because another keyboard looks similar or because another model also uses Hall Effect switches.

Different devices may use different controllers, key matrices, RGB systems, sensors, and internal configurations.

Do not use firmware from another Redragon model as a way to fix Device not detected.

Magnetic switches and compatibility

A magnetic switch cannot be considered compatible simply because it physically fits into the switch socket.

For Hall Effect switches, the design, magnet position, and interaction with the keyboard sensor are important.

Do not install random HE switches without confirmed compatibility with the K721. Differences in magnet position or polarity may cause incorrect key travel detection or make the key completely nonfunctional.

A key actuates too early or by itself

With a magnetic keyboard, this does not always indicate a physical failure.

First check:

  1. the actuation point of the problematic key;
  2. Rapid Trigger settings;
  3. assigned additional actions;
  4. macros;
  5. operation after a factory reset.

If the problem appeared immediately after changing sensitivity, restore a deeper actuation point.

A key does not actuate or actuates only when pressed deeply

Possible causes:

  • the configured actuation point is too deep;
  • incorrect configuration after changing settings;
  • a problem with the specific magnetic switch;
  • external magnetic interference;
  • a hardware sensor malfunction.

First restore the default settings and test the key again.

Do not place strong magnets near the keyboard

Because the K721 uses Hall Effect sensors, a strong external magnetic field can affect the operation of the magnetic switches.

It is not recommended to place strong magnets directly next to the keyboard or experiment with magnets to change how the keys behave.

How to check the K721 in Windows 11

  1. Right-click the Start button.
  2. Select Device Manager.
  3. Check the Keyboards section.
  4. Check Human Interface Devices.

The K721 may appear as a standard HID device. The absence of the word Redragon in the device name does not mean that the driver is installed incorrectly.

How to check the K721 in Windows 10

  1. Right-click the Start button.
  2. Open Device Manager.
  3. Check the Keyboards and Human Interface Devices sections.

If the keyboard types normally and there are no warning icons, an additional system driver is usually not required.

A yellow warning icon appeared in Device Manager

If you have determined that the problem is specifically related to the K721:

  1. Disconnect the keyboard.
  2. Open Device Manager.
  3. Find the related device with the warning icon.
  4. Right-click it.
  5. Select Uninstall device.
  6. Restart the computer.
  7. Reconnect the K721.
  8. Wait for Windows to automatically detect the device.
Do not remove random HID devices. When connected via USB, the keyboard may create several related entries for the main keys, multimedia controls, and additional functions.

If the keyboard does not work at all

  1. Connect the K721 directly to another USB port.
  2. Do not use a USB hub.
  3. Try another known-good USB cable that supports data transfer.
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Test the keyboard on another computer.

If the K721 is not detected even as a standard USB keyboard on another computer, reinstalling Redragon Software usually will not resolve such a hardware problem.

Can the K721 be used without Redragon software?

Yes. The software is not required for normal typing and basic functions.

Windows automatically uses the standard HID driver, and some RGB functions are available directly from the keyboard.

Installing the proprietary software makes sense for features related to the magnetic switches: actuation point configuration, Rapid Trigger, advanced key assignments, macros, RGB, and higher polling rates.
