Redragon S101M-KS: driver, software, keyboard and mouse connection

Redragon S101M-KS is a wireless gaming keyboard and mouse combo with support for wired connection, 2.4 GHz, and Bluetooth. A separate proprietary Redragon driver is not required for normal operation. Windows automatically uses the standard system HID drivers.

Official Redragon software is also available for S101M-KS. Separate programs are used for the keyboard and mouse. They are intended for additional settings and are not mandatory drivers for connecting the devices.

Important: this guide is intended specifically for Redragon S101M-KS Gaming Combo. Do not install software for S101, S101-3, S101-4, S101-BA-3, or other similar combos just because their names are similar. Different S101 versions use different keyboards, mice, and software.

Does Redragon S101M-KS need a driver?

A separate Redragon driver is not required for normal keyboard and mouse operation.

When connected via USB, the 2.4 GHz wireless receiver, or Bluetooth, the operating system detects the devices and installs the standard system drivers automatically.

The proprietary software is not required for:

  • normal text input;
  • operation of the main mouse buttons;
  • wired connection;
  • 2.4 GHz connection;
  • Bluetooth connection;
  • using built-in keyboard shortcuts;
  • basic control of the keyboard’s RGB lighting.

If the keyboard and mouse already work in Windows, there is no need to search for or install an additional driver.

Is software available for S101M-KS?

Yes. Redragon officially provides separate software for the S101M-KS keyboard and mouse.

Official downloads can be found in the Redragon software download center.

At the time of verification, the following installer is used for the keyboard:

Redragon_S101M-KS_GAMING_KEYBOARD_setup_1.0.4.4.exe

File verification confirmed the following internal information:

  • ProductName: Redragon S101M-KS GAMING KEYBOARD;
  • FileDescription: Redragon S101M-KS GAMING KEYBOARD Setup;
  • ProductVersion: 1.0.4.4.

Redragon provides separate software for the mouse. Do not use the keyboard software to configure the mouse, or vice versa.

Do not confuse software with a driver. The S101M-KS keyboard and mouse can work without the proprietary utilities. Redragon software is required only for additional settings.

How to install the software

If you need additional keyboard or mouse settings, download the corresponding software from the official Redragon website.

  1. Open the official Redragon download center.
  2. Find S101M-KS Gaming Combo.
  3. To configure the keyboard, download the keyboard software.
  4. To configure the mouse, download the mouse software.
  5. Close other Redragon device management programs.
  6. Run the required installer and complete the installation.
Windows SmartScreen warning: when you run the installer, Windows may display “Windows protected your PC”. If the file was downloaded directly from the official Redragon website and its name corresponds to S101M-KS, click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. If the file was obtained from an unknown source or is intended for another model, do not continue with the installation.

Connecting the keyboard via USB

The keyboard can be used as a standard wired USB device.

  1. Connect the USB Type-C cable to the keyboard.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a USB port on the computer.
  3. Wait a few seconds while Windows detects the device.
  4. If the keyboard is turned on and a wireless mode is selected, press FN + 5.

FN + 5 switches the keyboard to wired mode.

The keyboard’s built-in battery is also charged when connected via USB.

Connecting the keyboard via 2.4 GHz

In 2.4 GHz mode, the keyboard and mouse use the included USB receiver.

  1. Turn on the keyboard.
  2. Connect the included USB receiver to the computer.
  3. Press FN + 4 to select 2.4 GHz mode.
  4. Wait a few seconds.
  5. Test text input.

If the pairing has not been lost, the keyboard usually connects automatically.

Re-pairing the keyboard with the USB receiver

If the 2.4 GHz connection stops working:

  1. Make sure the keyboard is charged.
  2. Turn on the keyboard.
  3. Connect the USB receiver to the computer.
  4. Press and hold FN + 4 for approximately 3 seconds.
  5. The M indicator will start flashing rapidly.
  6. Wait for pairing to complete.
If normal re-pairing does not help: turn off the mouse, remove the shared USB receiver, and disconnect the USB cable from the keyboard. Turn off the keyboard, then turn it on again and activate pairing mode using FN + 4. When the M indicator starts flashing rapidly, connect the USB receiver to the computer. During this procedure, place the keyboard close to the receiver. After the connection is successful, turn the mouse back on and select 2.4 GHz mode on it.

Connecting the keyboard via Bluetooth

The keyboard supports three Bluetooth profiles.

Initial Bluetooth pairing

  1. Turn on the keyboard.
  2. Press and hold FN + 1, FN + 2, or FN + 3 to select a profile and start pairing.
  3. Wait until the M indicator starts flashing rapidly.
  4. Open Bluetooth settings on the computer.
  5. Start searching for new devices.
  6. Select the keyboard and complete the pairing process.

In the list of available devices, the keyboard may appear as BT3.0 Keyboard or BT5.0 Keyboard.

Bluetooth in Windows 11

Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices, turn on Bluetooth, and select Add device → Bluetooth.

Select the keyboard from the list of detected devices.

Bluetooth in Windows 10

Open Settings → Devices → Bluetooth & other devices, turn on Bluetooth, and select Add Bluetooth or other device → Bluetooth.

Select the keyboard from the list.

Switching keyboard connection modes

If the keyboard suddenly stops responding to key presses, first check whether another connection mode was selected accidentally.

Controlling keyboard RGB lighting without software

Redragon software is not required to use the built-in RGB lighting.

Key combination Function
FN + INS Cycles through the built-in lighting modes.
FN + ↑ Increases the speed of the dynamic effect.
FN + ↓ Decreases the speed of the dynamic effect.
FN + → Increases the lighting brightness.
FN + ← Decreases the lighting brightness.
FN + ENTER Cycles through the available colors in supported modes.

Speed adjustment works only in dynamic modes.

In modes that support color selection, FN + ENTER cycles through the available colors and the multicolor RGB option.

Resetting keyboard settings

If the connection mode, lighting, or other settings do not work correctly, perform a reset:

FN + ESC

Hold the shortcut for approximately 3 seconds, then select the required connection mode again.

Locking the Windows key

To prevent an accidental press of the Windows key from interrupting a game, use:

FN + WIN

Pressing it again removes the lock.

Connecting the mouse via 2.4 GHz

In 2.4 GHz mode, the mouse uses the same included USB receiver as the keyboard.

  1. Connect the shared USB receiver to the computer.
  2. Turn on the mouse.
  3. Set the mouse switch to 2.4G mode.
  4. Wait a few seconds.

If the pairing information is saved, the mouse should connect automatically.

If the keyboard works through the receiver but the mouse does not, first check the position of the mode switch on the bottom of the mouse and the battery charge.

Connecting the mouse via Bluetooth

  1. Turn on the mouse.
  2. Set the switch to BT mode.
  3. Press and hold the Pair BT button for approximately 3 seconds.
  4. Open Bluetooth in Windows.
  5. Start searching for new devices.
  6. Select the mouse and complete the pairing process.

The shared 2.4 GHz USB receiver is not required for a Bluetooth connection.

Wired mouse connection

The mouse can be used with a USB cable.

  1. Connect the cable to the mouse.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a USB port on the computer.
  3. Wait for the device to be detected automatically.
  4. Test pointer movement and the buttons.

A separate Redragon driver is not required for a wired connection.

Mouse DPI configuration

Basic sensitivity can be changed using the DPI button directly on the mouse.

For the S101M-KS mouse, the officially specified hardware sensitivity is up to 4800 DPI. Through the proprietary software, extended configuration up to 7200 DPI is available.

Specific intermediate values may differ between software versions, so if precise configuration is required, use the S101M-KS mouse software.

If the standard sensitivity levels are sufficient, installing the software is optional.

Configuring the mouse polling rate and buttons

The proprietary mouse software allows you to change additional settings, including the supported polling rate and programmable button assignments.

For S101M-KS, the following polling rates are specified:

  • 125 Hz;
  • 250 Hz;
  • 500 Hz;
  • 1000 Hz.

If the mouse works normally, there is no need to change the polling rate.

If the Redragon software does not detect the keyboard

Sometimes the official software may report that the keyboard is not connected even though the S101M-KS itself works normally in Windows.

  1. Make sure the installed software is specifically for S101M-KS Gaming Combo — Keyboard.
  2. Connect the keyboard directly to the computer with a USB cable.
  3. Press FN + 5 to select wired mode.
  4. Do not use a USB hub or docking station during testing.
  5. Try another USB port.
  6. Close the Redragon software and launch it again.
If the keyboard works normally in Windows but the official software does not recognize it even with a wired connection, this does not necessarily mean there is a driver problem. There are known cases where the proprietary S101M-KS utility does not detect a working keyboard. Do not remove the standard HID driver just for the software. First check that you are using the correct utility version, a direct USB connection, and another USB port.

If the Redragon software does not detect the mouse

  1. Make sure the installed software is specifically for S101M-KS Gaming Combo — Mice.
  2. Do not use the keyboard software to configure the mouse.
  3. Connect the mouse directly to the computer with a USB cable.
  4. Close the Redragon software and launch it again.
  5. Try another USB port.

If the pointer moves and the main buttons work, failure to communicate with the proprietary software does not mean that the standard HID driver is missing.

If the keyboard or mouse does not work via 2.4 GHz

Because both devices use the shared USB receiver, first determine which device has lost the connection.

  • If neither the keyboard nor the mouse works, reconnect the shared USB receiver and try another USB port.
  • If the mouse works but the keyboard does not, check the keyboard mode and, if necessary, re-pair it using FN + 4.
  • If the keyboard works but the mouse does not, check the mouse mode switch.
  • Fully charge both devices.
  • For testing, connect the keyboard and mouse via USB.

If the device works normally via USB but does not work through the shared receiver, reinstalling the standard HID driver is usually not required. First check the connection mode, battery, receiver, and pairing.

If Bluetooth stops working

If the device previously connected via Bluetooth but no longer connects:

  1. Remove the old device pairing in Windows Bluetooth settings.
  2. Turn the keyboard or mouse off and back on.
  3. Start pairing mode again.
  4. Add the device to Windows as a new device.

For the keyboard, press and hold the required combination: FN + 1, FN + 2, or FN + 3. For the mouse, use the Pair BT button.

If Windows does not detect the device at all

If the keyboard or mouse does not work even in wired mode:

  1. Fully charge the device.
  2. Connect it directly to a USB port on the computer.
  3. Try another USB port.
  4. Do not use a USB hub or extension cable.
  5. Restart Windows.
  6. If possible, test the device on another computer.

If the device works on another computer, you can force Windows to re-detect the standard HID device through Device Manager.

If the device is not detected on another computer even with a wired connection, installing different Redragon software will usually not solve the problem. Check the USB cable, connector, and the device itself.

Removing incompatible software in Windows 11

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
  2. Find the Redragon software.
  3. Open its menu and select Uninstall.
  4. Complete the uninstallation.
  5. Restart Windows.

Removing incompatible software in Windows 10

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features.
  2. Find the Redragon software.
  3. Select it and click Uninstall.
  4. Complete the uninstallation.
  5. Restart Windows.

Uninstalling the proprietary software does not remove the standard Windows HID drivers. The keyboard and mouse should continue to operate normally without Redragon software.
