For the OKI C332dn, C532dn and C542dn in Windows 11 and Windows 10, installing the manufacturer’s PCL6 driver is recommended. It is suitable for ordinary documents, supports model-specific settings and is usually a better primary option than the universal Windows driver. The instructions below cover installation by USB and over a wired local network, as well as what to do if the installer does not detect the printer or printing does not start after installation.
Where to perform the actions
Run the driver file on the computer. Select the connection method in the OKI installer. Check the IP address on the printer’s operator panel or on a printed network settings page. Check the queue, driver and port in the Windows interface.
Models covered by this guide
This guide is intended for the following color LED printers:
- OKI C332dn;
- OKI C532dn;
- OKI C542dn.
The official package identifies the models without the network suffix: C332, C532 and C542. In the names of the configurations sold, the dn suffix indicates automatic duplex printing and a wired network interface. These models can be connected to a computer with a USB cable or to a router or network switch with an Ethernet cable.
Computers with ARM processors
Windows 11 is listed on the official page, but ARM64 is not specified as a separately supported architecture. The presence of 32-bit and 64-bit Intel/AMD components in the package does not confirm compatibility with Snapdragon and other Windows on ARM computers. Do not attempt to install an x64 INF driver manually as an ARM64 driver.
Which driver to download

This installer contains the model-specific OKW3X05H.INF file, 32-bit and 64-bit components, network printer detection tools, a USB component and multilingual interface resources. You do not need to install OKI LPR Utility, Driver Installer Generator, an ICC profile or the FAQ program separately for ordinary printing.
The PS driver is mainly required for documents containing PostScript fonts and EPS data. Universal PCL5 can be used with certain older programs. The XPS driver should not be selected by default either. Installing several drivers at the same time often creates similar queues and makes it more difficult to identify the cause of a problem.
What to do before installation
- Turn on the printer and wait until it is ready. The display must not show a paper jam, open cover, out-of-paper or other error message.
- If you plan to use a USB connection, disconnect the USB cable from the computer for now. Connect it only when instructed by the installer.
- If you are using a network, connect the printer to the router or switch with a standard Ethernet cable. Make sure that the computer is connected to the same local network.
- Remove stalled jobs from the queue. Do not remove old printers and drivers in advance if they do not interfere with the installation: first try installing the correct queue.
- Save the downloaded EXE file to a local drive, for example in the “Downloads” folder. Do not run it directly from an archive, network folder or e-mail attachment.
Installation in Windows 11
- Open the folder containing
OKW3X05H1011_279871.exeand double-click the file. - If the “User Account Control” window appears, click “Yes”.
- Wait for extraction to finish. An installer folder will be created next to the downloaded file or in a temporary directory.
- In the Select Language window, select the required available interface language and click OK. The labels on subsequent buttons depend on the installer language selected.
- Read the license agreement and continue the installation only after accepting it.
- Select the actual connection method: USB or wired network. Do not select the network option for a USB printer or vice versa.
- For a USB installation, connect the cable only when prompted. Use a port directly on the computer, without a USB hub or adapter.
- For a network installation, select the detected printer after checking the model and IP address. If there are several OKI devices on the network, do not rely only on the model name.
- Complete the installation. If “Program Compatibility Assistant” appears, select “This program installed correctly”.
- Open “Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners”, select the installed OKI printer and open its properties.
Installation in Windows 10
The installer itself works in the same way as in Windows 11: run the EXE file, allow it to make changes to the device, select a language, accept the agreement and specify a USB or network connection. The path to the installed printer is different:
- Open “Start → Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners”.
- Find the OKI C332, C532 or C542 queue.
- Select it and click “Manage”.
- If Windows changes the default printer automatically, turn off “Let Windows manage my default printer”, and then set the OKI queue as the default printer.
How to install the printer correctly by USB
- Disconnect the USB cable before starting the installer.
- Start the PCL6 installation and select the USB connection.
- When the installer asks you to connect the device, turn on the printer and connect it to the computer.
- Wait for the device to be detected. Windows may take several seconds to configure the USB components in the background.
- When installation is complete, check that one working queue has been created with the OKI model and PCL6 driver.
If the cable was connected before installation, Windows may have created a queue automatically with a different driver. The presence of such a queue does not confirm that the manufacturer’s PCL6 driver was installed correctly.
How to install the printer over a local network
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the printer’s network connector and to the router or switch.
- Find the printer’s current IPv4 address on the operator panel or print the network settings page. The address must be different from
0.0.0.0and correspond to your network range. - Start the PCL6 installer and select the network connection.
- Verify the detected device by its model and IP address, and then continue the installation.
- After installation, open the printer properties and check the “Ports” tab.
For a permanent office connection, a Standard TCP/IP Port with the printer’s current IP address is preferable. An automatically created WSD port may work, but if the address changes or the device is detected again, the “Offline” status, a new copy of the queue or incomplete printing may occasionally occur. How to add a Standard TCP/IP Port
- Open the classic “Control Panel → Hardware and Sound → Devices and Printers”.
- Open “Printer properties” for the required OKI queue. Do not confuse it with the device’s regular “Properties” window.
- Go to the “Ports” tab and click “Add Port”.
- Select Standard TCP/IP Port, click “New Port” and enter the printer’s current IPv4 address.
- Complete the wizard and make sure that the new port is selected for the correct queue.
- Print a test page. If printing works, you do not need to remove the old WSD port from the system.
Stable IP address
If the router later assigns a different IP address to the printer, the TCP/IP port you created will remain linked to the old address. For a permanent configuration, reserve the printer’s address in the router’s DHCP settings or configure a static address that takes your network settings into account.
How to check the result
- Open the properties of the installed printer.
- Make sure that the driver name includes the required model and PCL6, not just a generic device class.
- Click “Test Print” or “Print Test Page”.
- Check that the job disappears from the queue and the entire page is printed.
- Open “Printing preferences” and make sure that the model-specific options, including color and duplex printing, are available.
If an internal page started from the printer’s operator panel prints normally but the Windows test page does not, look for the cause in the queue, driver, port or connection, not in the toner or print mechanism.
The installer does not detect the USB printer
- Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
- Restart the installer and select the USB connection again.
- Connect the cable only when prompted.
- Try another USB port directly on the computer. Do not use a hub, docking station or extension cable.
- If possible, test another working USB data cable.
- Open “Device Manager” and check whether a new device appears when you connect the cable. Do not remove unknown devices unless you have confirmed that they belong to the printer.
- Restart the computer and printer, and then repeat the installation.
If Windows does not respond to the connection through any port, even with a different cable, the problem is below the PCL6 driver level: check the printer’s USB connector and test the device on another computer.
The installer does not find the network printer
- Check the network connector indicators and print the printer’s network settings.
- Compare the computer’s and printer’s addresses. For example, if the computer’s address is
192.168.1.20, a printer with the address192.168.0.50may be on a different subnet. - Temporarily disconnect the VPN if it changes local network routes. Do not completely disable the antivirus or firewall.
- If automatic detection did not work, create a Standard TCP/IP Port manually using the current IPv4 address.
- Make sure that the same IP address has not been assigned to two devices.
Two or more queues appeared after installation
First identify the working queue without removing all instances at the same time:
- Open the properties of each queue and compare the driver and port.
- Print a test page from the queue that uses the model-specific PCL6 driver and the correct USB or TCP/IP port.
- Set the working queue as the default printer.
- Remove only clearly unnecessary copies after a successful test. Do not remove the driver package from the system while the working queue is using it.
The driver is installed, but the printer does not print
- Check the printer’s display and print an internal page from the operator panel.
- Open the Windows queue and cancel the stalled job.
- Make sure that “Pause Printing” and “Use Printer Offline” are not enabled.
- Check that the selected port matches the actual connection.
- For a network connection, compare the port’s IP address with the printer’s current IP address.
- If
Invalid DataorPDL Errorappears on the display, check that the queue uses the driver specifically for the C332/C532/C542, not an incompatible model or print language. You can verify the meaning of these messages in the official OKI message list. - Repeat the Windows test print.
When reinstallation is required
Reinstall the driver if the package is damaged, a different model was selected, an update from an older version failed or the model-specific settings are missing. First remove only the incorrect queue. Completely removing the driver through “Print Server Properties” is justified when Windows continues to use the old package or reports that the driver is already installed and cannot be updated.
Do not remove all OKI drivers without checking
The computer may have other working OKI printers that use a shared component. Before removing the package from “Print Server Properties”, check which queues depend on it. On an office network, coordinate the action with the administrator.
If the correct model-specific PCL6 queue uses the corresponding port, the printer’s internal page prints, the connection is working, but the Windows test page still does not print, write down the message on the display and the job status in the queue. This information will help distinguish a Windows print service failure from a network communication error or printer hardware fault.
