The Samsung SCX-4300 often has problems specifically with the printer driver on Windows 10 and Windows 11. It usually looks like this: the driver seems to install, but the printer does not print, is not detected correctly by the system, print jobs disappear from the queue, or Windows uses the wrong driver.
For the Samsung SCX-4300, it is better to try the official model-specific print driver first, not Samsung Universal Print Driver. This guide is intended primarily for the situation where the printer has already been installed before, but it still does not work after installation.
Important: this article applies only to the printer driver. Scanner driver installation is not covered here.
Where to download the Samsung SCX-4300 printer driver
Official support page:
Open the Samsung SCX-4300 driver page on the HP website
Direct official link to the print driver:
Download SCX-4300_Print.exe
Note: the official support page is on the HP website because support for Samsung printers is now handled by HP.
Before installation (important)
Main rule: do not connect the printer to the computer in advance. Start the installation first, and connect the USB cable only when the installer asks you to do so.
If you connect the printer first, Windows may automatically assign its own driver, and that often interferes with the correct Samsung SCX-4300 installation.
If you already tried to install the driver before, first remove the old printer and the old driver from the system, and only then start the installation again.
Method 1. Main option: install the official SCX-4300_Print.exe driver
Step 1. Prepare the printer and the computer
- Close Word, your PDF viewer, and other programs.
- Turn the printer off with the power button.
- Disconnect the printer USB cable from the computer.
Step 2. Remove the old printer from Windows
Windows 11
- Click Start.
- Open Settings.
- Open Bluetooth & devices.
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Find Samsung SCX-4300 Series or another Samsung printer related to this device in the list.
- Select it.
- Click Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
Windows 10
- Click Start.
- Open Settings.
- Open Devices.
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Find Samsung SCX-4300 Series or another Samsung printer related to this device in the list.
- Select it.
- Click Remove device.
- Confirm the removal.
If several similar Samsung printers are listed, remove all entries related to this device.
Step 3. Remove the old Samsung driver from the system
Windows 11
- Open Start.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Bluetooth & devices.
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Scroll down and click Printer server properties.
Windows 10
- Open Start.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Devices.
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Click Printer server properties.
The next steps are the same in Windows 10 and Windows 11
- Open the Drivers tab.
- Find the installed Samsung driver related to the SCX-4300.
- If the list contains Samsung Universal Print Driver or PCL6 Driver for Universal Print, remove that too.
- Select the driver.
- Click Remove….
- If you are asked to choose, select Remove driver and driver package.
- Click OK.
If the driver does not uninstall, first cancel all jobs in the print queue and then try again.
Step 4. Restart the computer
After the restart, do not connect the printer by USB until you launch the driver installation.
Step 5. Run SCX-4300_Print.exe
- Find the file
SCX-4300_Print.exe. - Right-click it.
- Select Run as administrator.
- If Windows asks for permission, click Yes.
- If the installer asks you to choose an installation type, select the standard installation option.
- Click Next > through the setup steps.
- When the installer asks you to connect the printer:
- connect the USB cable to the computer;
- turn the printer on.
- If a Found New Hardware Wizard window or a new device message appears, click Cancel and continue the installation.
- Wait for the installation to finish.
- Click Finish.
Step 6. Check whether the printer appeared
Windows 11
- Open Start.
- Open Settings.
- Open Bluetooth & devices.
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Find Samsung SCX-4300 Series in the list.
Windows 10
- Open Start.
- Open Settings.
- Open Devices.
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Find Samsung SCX-4300 Series in the list.
If the printer appears, open Printer properties and click Print Test Page.
If installation through SCX-4300_Print.exe did not help
Move to the next method if:
- the installation finished, but the printer did not appear;
- the printer appeared, but it does not print;
- print jobs disappear from the queue;
- Samsung Universal Print Driver was installed earlier;
- the printer stopped printing after a Windows update.
Method 2. Backup option: manual driver installation through INF
This method is useful if the normal installation did not help. Inside the driver package there is an INF file that can be used to add the correct printer driver manually.
Step 1. Extract the driver
- Create a separate folder, for example on the Desktop.
- Extract
SCX-4300_Print.exeinto that folder. - If your normal archive tool shows an error, use 7-Zip.
Step 2. Find the sse1m.inf file
For 64-bit Windows, open this folder:
SCX-4300_Print\Printer\SPL\WINXP_VISTA_64
Find the file sse1m.inf there.

For 32-bit Windows, open this folder:
SCX-4300_Print\Printer\SPL\WINXP_2000_VISTA_32
Find the file sse1m.inf there as well.
If file extensions are hidden, look for a file named sse1m.
Step 3. Add the printer manually through Have Disk…
Windows 11
- Click Start.
- Open Settings.
- Open Bluetooth & devices.
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Click Add device.
- Wait for the search to finish.
- Next to The printer that I want isn’t listed, click Add a new device manually.

sse1m.inffile. - Click Open, then OK.

- Click Next >.
- If needed, enter a printer name.
- On the sharing step, select Do not share this printer.
- On the last step, click Print a test page or Finish.
Windows 10
- Click Start.
- Open Settings.
- Open Devices.
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Click Add a printer or scanner.
- Wait for the search to finish.
- Click The printer that I want isn’t listed.

This video shows how to manually install a driver using “Have Disk…”
If the printer is installed, but printing works incorrectly
Sometimes the driver installs, the printer is visible in the system, but print jobs hang, disappear from the queue, or the document is not printed.
Start with three simple checks
- Print a Windows test page.
- Print 2 or 3 lines from Notepad.
- Try printing the same file from a different program.
Disable advanced printing features
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Select Samsung SCX-4300 Series.
- Open Printer properties.
- Go to the Advanced tab.
- Clear Enable advanced printing features.
- Click Apply.
- Send Print Test Page again.
Clear the print queue
- Open the print queue.
- Cancel all jobs.
- If the jobs are stuck, restart the computer and check again.
If necessary, recreate the printer
If the printer is visible in the system, but prints unreliably, remove it and install it again using whichever method already worked for you: through SCX-4300_Print.exe or through sse1m.inf.
If Samsung Universal Print Driver was installed before
Samsung Universal Print Driver works normally for some users, but it is not always a good match for the SCX-4300. If the printer does not print after UPD installation, it is better to remove Universal Print Driver and install the model-specific SCX-4300 driver.
That is why this article recommends the official SCX-4300_Print.exe print driver first, not the universal driver.
If neither the main method nor INF helped
Then try the built-in Windows drivers.
Important: this wizard adds only the driver to Windows. After that, the printer itself still needs to be added manually through Printers & scanners.
- Open Printer server properties.
- Open the Drivers tab.
- Click Add….
- Click Next >.
- Select x64.
- Click Next >.
- Click Windows Update.
- Wait for the list to update.
- If a suitable Samsung driver appears in the list, select it.
- Finish adding the driver.
- After that, add the printer itself manually.
If the printer stopped working after a Windows update
The order of actions is the same:
- remove the printer;
- remove the old Samsung driver;
- restart the computer;
- start again with
SCX-4300_Print.exe; - if that does not help, move to
sse1m.inf; - if that does not help, try the built-in Windows driver.
Brief summary
For the Samsung SCX-4300 on Windows 10 and Windows 11, the correct order is usually this:
- remove the old printer and the old driver;
- restart the computer;
- install
SCX-4300_Print.exeonly while the USB cable is disconnected; - connect the printer only when the installer asks you to do so;
- if normal installation does not help, use Have Disk… and the
sse1m.inffile; - if the driver is installed but printing does not work, check the test page, Notepad printing, the print queue, and advanced printing features.
