Phaser 3260 Windows Printer Driver Installer Package
How to install the printer driver correctly: Do not connect the printer to the computer. Start installing the software first. During the installation process, a message will appear on the monitor informing you when to connect the printer to your computer.
If you see the message ‘Found New Hardware’ on the screen, click Cancel and disconnect the USB cable. Then proceed to install the software. A common mistake when installing a driver is that you first connect the device to your computer using a USB cable and then install the driver. In this case, the operating system detects the connected device and installs its own driver, which may not work correctly or not work at all. However, some other devices may work fine with the driver installed by the operating system. Therefore, if there is a driver specially created for your device, then first start installing this driver and only then connect the device to the computer. If you installed the driver incorrectly, uninstall the driver, restart your computer, and reinstall the software. Be sure to restart your computer after installing and after uninstalling the drivers.

Description: Phaser 3260DNI Windows Printer Driver Installer Package. Contains the Printer drivers, Easy Printer Manager, and Easy Wireless Setup utility.
Xerox Phaser 3260DI / 3260DNI won’t print over Wi-Fi in Windows 11: “Driver is unavailable” (Causes and fixes)
The “Driver is unavailable” error usually means Windows 11 has added the printer, but couldn’t apply the correct driver to it. Below are the most common causes and the fixes that most often work for Xerox Phaser 3260DI (3260/DI) and Xerox Phaser 3260DNI.
Model note: The 3260DI typically supports Wi-Fi and USB. The 3260DNI supports Wi-Fi, USB, and wired Ethernet (LAN). The error and the fixes are usually the same.
How the issue shows up
- The printer appears in Windows 11, but print jobs don’t print.
- In Printer properties or the print queue, the status shows “Driver is unavailable”.
- This often happens after a Windows update, replacing the router, switching Wi-Fi networks, or changing network settings.
Why Windows 11 says “Driver is unavailable”
The core reason is simple: the printer queue exists, but the driver is not installed or not associated with that printer. This can happen for several reasons:
- Automatic driver setup failed. Windows adds the printer but doesn’t install the correct driver automatically.
- The printer was added as a WSD device. When you add a printer “automatically over the network,” Windows may create a WSD printer. After network changes, the driver may stop applying correctly to that queue.
- Windows Protected Print Mode is enabled. This mode uses a newer printing model and may restrict classic (vendor) drivers.
- The printer’s IP address changed. If the printer received a new IP (for example, after changing the router), Windows may still try to print to the old address.
Before you start: quick checks
- Restart everything. Restart the printer and the router. Then restart your PC.
- Confirm the printer is on the right network. Make sure the printer is connected to your current Wi-Fi network.
- Find the printer’s IP address. Check your router’s device list, or print/view the printer’s network information page.
Fix 1. Install the official Xerox driver package
For the Phaser 3260, Xerox provides an official installer package that includes drivers and utilities. Installing it often resolves the “Driver is unavailable” error.
- Download the official driver package for Phaser 3260 for Windows:
Xerox Phaser 3260 — Drivers & Downloads (English). - Run the installer as administrator and complete the installation.
- Restart your PC.
If the printer is already added: If the error persists, remove the printer from Windows and add it again (see Fix 2).
Fix 2. Remove the WSD printer and add the printer by IP (Standard TCP/IP Port)
This is one of the most reliable ways to connect a network printer. It works for both Wi-Fi and LAN (especially relevant for the 3260DNI).
- Open: Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Select the problematic Phaser 3260 printer and click Remove.
- Click Add device. If Windows can’t find it, choose Add manually.
- Select: Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
- Enter the printer’s IP address.
- On the driver selection step, choose Xerox Phaser 3260 (after installing the official package).
- Print a test page.
Recommendation: To prevent the IP address from changing, set up an IP reservation (DHCP reservation) for the printer in your router.
Fix 3. Check Windows Protected Print Mode
If Windows Protected Print Mode is enabled, Windows may block classic vendor drivers. Turning it off can restore normal printing.
- Open Settings in Windows 11.
- Go to: Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
- Find Windows Protected Print Mode and turn it Off (if it’s On).
- Restart your PC and test printing.
Tip: If you don’t see the setting, use the Settings search and type protected print.
Fix 4. Update the printer firmware
If the issue started after updates or network changes, updating the printer firmware may help. Use only firmware from the official Xerox website and follow Xerox’s instructions.
Fix 5. Temporary workaround: print via IPP (Microsoft IPP Class Driver)
In some cases, printing may work using the built-in Windows driver: Microsoft IPP Class Driver. This is useful for testing or temporary use, but some printer features may be unavailable.
If the problem still persists
- Test printing over USB. If USB printing works, the issue is network setup or how the printer was added.
- Remove all Phaser 3260 entries from Windows, then add only one printer again by IP.
- Check for IP conflicts on your network (two devices using the same IP address).
- For the 3260DNI: test wired LAN printing (Ethernet cable) to determine whether the issue is Wi-Fi or the Windows driver/queue configuration.
Summary
The “Driver is unavailable” message in Windows 11 is most often caused by the driver not being installed correctly or by the printer being added using an unreliable method (like WSD). In practice, the most effective approach is installing the official Xerox driver package and adding the printer by IP (Standard TCP/IP Port). Also check Windows Protected Print Mode and update the printer firmware if needed.
