This does not always mean that the previous owner changed the password. For some devices, the factory rule was changed: the initial password is the ten-character serial number, with uppercase letters converted to lowercase.<\/p>\n<p>Additional confusion is caused by the separate <strong>Network Password<\/strong>. Its value may consist of the last six characters of the MAC address, but this password is not intended for normal access to the web interface through <strong>Administrator Login<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #eef6ff; border-left: 5px solid #2271b1; margin: 20px 0; padding: 14px 18px;\">\n<p style=\"margin: 0 0 8px;\"><strong>Where to start<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;\">To sign in through a browser, enter the user name <code>root<\/code>. First try the password <code>aaaaaa<\/code> \u2014 exactly six lowercase Latin letters with no spaces. If it does not work, print the configuration page, find the ten-character serial number and enter it in lowercase. For example, the serial number <code>AB1234CD56<\/code> becomes the password <code>ab1234cd56<\/code>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Models covered by this guide<\/h2>\n<p>The revised procedure for determining the factory password applies to the following device groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>OKI B412dn, B432dn, B432dnw and B512dn;<\/li>\n<li>OKI MB472dn, MB472dnw, MB492dn and MB562dnw;<\/li>\n<li>some regional variants of these models;<\/li>\n<li>a number of related color and monochrome OKI devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Older manuals for the B432, MB472 and MB492 specify the password <code>aaaaaa<\/code>. It is still used on many units. The last six characters of the MAC address do not replace the <code>root<\/code> password in the <strong>Administrator Login<\/strong> window, and the secure-print PIN does not open <strong>Admin Setup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 1. Check the standard password without typing errors<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Switch the keyboard layout to English.<\/li>\n<li>In the user-name field, enter <code>root<\/code> in lowercase.<\/li>\n<li>In the password field, enter <code>aaaaaa<\/code> \u2014 six lowercase Latin letters <strong>a<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Do not add a space before or after the password.<\/li>\n<li>Disable automatic filling of the saved password in the browser.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For the B432, MB472 and MB492, the old factory value is exactly <code>aaaaaa<\/code>. The combinations <code>999999<\/code>, <code>123456<\/code> and <code>000000<\/code> found on the internet apply to other models or other functions. There is no need to try them instead of checking the serial number.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2. Print the configuration page and find the serial number<\/h2>\n<p>It is recommended to use the number from the printed configuration page. This reduces the risk of confusing the device serial number with the network-module number, a consumable part number, or the MAC address.<\/p>\n<h3>B412, B432, B512<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Load an A4 sheet in the main tray.<\/li>\n<li>Use the arrow buttons to open <strong>PRINT INFO<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>CONFIGURATION<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>OK<\/strong>. The printer will print the Menu Map.<\/li>\n<li>Find the line <strong>SERIAL NO.<\/strong> or <strong>SERIAL NUMBER<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>MB472, MB492, MB562<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Load an A4 sheet in the main tray.<\/li>\n<li>Press the physical <strong>SETTING<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure <strong>Reports<\/strong> is selected and press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Configuration<\/strong> and press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On the confirmation screen, select <strong>Yes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On the printed page, find <strong>Serial No.<\/strong> or <strong>Serial Number<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div style=\"background-color: #fffbf0; border-left: 5px solid #ff9800; margin: 20px 0; padding: 14px 18px;\">\n<p style=\"margin: 0 0 8px;\"><strong>Do not use the MAC Address instead of the Serial Number<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;\">A MAC address usually consists of twelve hexadecimal characters and belongs to the network interface. In this case, the device serial number contains ten characters. The new factory password requires the <strong>Serial Number<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Step 3. If the serial number contains the letter <strong>O<\/strong>, do not replace it with the digit <strong>0<\/strong>. Likewise, do not confuse the letter <strong>I<\/strong> with the digit <strong>1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4. Sign in to the OKI web interface<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Find the <strong>IPv4 Address<\/strong> value on the configuration page.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure the computer is connected to the same local network.<\/li>\n<li>Open a browser.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the device address, for example <code>http:\/\/192.168.1.25<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>Do not add leading zeros. Correct: <code>192.168.1.25<\/code>, incorrect: <code>192.168.001.025<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>Enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On the OKI page, click <strong>Administrator Login<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>User name<\/strong> field, enter <code>root<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Password<\/strong> field, first enter <code>aaaaaa<\/code>; if it is not accepted, enter the serial number in lowercase.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If a device-information page appears after the first login, complete it or click <strong>SKIP<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The normal status page may open without a password. To change network settings, tray settings, e-mail settings, the address book and other protected settings, you must use <strong>Administrator Login<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 5. Sign in to Admin Setup from the device control panel<\/h2>\n<h3>B412, B432 or B512<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Use the arrow buttons to select <strong>ADMIN SETUP<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the administrator password one character at a time.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm the entered value by pressing <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>MB472, MB492 or MB562<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Press <strong>SETTING<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Admin Setup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the administrator password.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Enter<\/strong> and press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>On the control panel, the user name <code>root<\/code> normally does not need to be entered. Only the password, which is also used for the web interface, is required.<\/p>\n<h2>If the serial-number password worked before but no longer works<\/h2>\n<p>After <strong>Reset Settings<\/strong> or <strong>Erase Privacy Data<\/strong> is performed, the password may revert not to the serial number, but to the value specified in the manual. For the B432, MB472 and MB492, try <code>aaaaaa<\/code> again in this case.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter <code>root<\/code> and the serial-number password.<\/li>\n<li>If access is denied, enter <code>root<\/code> and <code>aaaaaa<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>If neither option works, determine whether the password was changed by an administrator or service organization.<\/li>\n<li>Do not repeat the configuration reset: it will not safely restore an unknown custom password and may delete required settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div style=\"background-color: #fff4f4; border-left: 5px solid #d63638; margin: 20px 0; padding: 14px 18px;\">\n<p style=\"margin: 0 0 8px;\"><strong>Do not use Erase Privacy Data just to recover a password<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;\">On an MFP, this operation may delete the address book, scan profiles, saved jobs and other user data. If the current password was changed and forgotten, contact the device administrator or a service center. Reinstalling the Windows driver does not affect the password.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Why the last six characters of the MAC address do not work<\/h2>\n<p>The B432 and related models have a separate network-card password. It is used in Configuration Tool and in some windows for changing network settings. Its factory value is the last six characters of the MAC address.<\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background-color: #f6f7f7; border: 1px solid #dcdcde; overflow: auto; padding: 14px; white-space: pre-wrap;\"><code>MAC Address: 00:25:36:AB:12:34\r\nNetwork Password: AB1234<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>This password should not be entered in the normal <strong>Administrator Login<\/strong> window. For the web interface, use:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background-color: #f6f7f7; border: 1px solid #dcdcde; overflow: auto; padding: 14px; white-space: pre-wrap;\"><code>User name: root\r\nPassword: aaaaaa\r\nor the ten-character Serial Number in lowercase<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>If the application specifically says <strong>Network Password<\/strong>, use the network-card password. If it says <strong>Administrator Login<\/strong>, <strong>Admin Password<\/strong> or <strong>Admin Setup<\/strong>, the device administrator password is required.<\/p>\n<h2>If the web page opens but the login keeps repeating<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure the user name is entered as <code>root<\/code>, with no uppercase letter or spaces.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the saved password for the printer&#8217;s IP address from the browser&#8217;s autofill data.<\/li>\n<li>Open a private browser window and try signing in again.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure the serial number is entered in full and all letters have been converted to lowercase.<\/li>\n<li>Do not copy the password from a formatted document if a space may be inserted with it.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you opened the IP address of the correct printer if several OKI devices are installed on the network.<\/li>\n<li>Allow cookies for the device&#8217;s local page.<\/li>\n<li>Try another modern browser.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the page does not open at all using the IP address, this is not a password error. First check the network connection, current IPv4 address and the network selected on the computer.<\/p>\n<h2>How to change the password after a successful login<\/h2>\n<p>The new password must contain from 6 to 12 Latin letters and digits. It is case-sensitive.
