Check the MFP connection to the local network

AirPrint and Mobile Print do not work with a device that is connected only to a computer by USB cable. The MFP must have its own IP address on the home or office network.

Make sure the MFP is turned on and there is no error message on the display.

If a wired connection is used, check the cable between the OKI network connector and the router or network switch.

If Wi-Fi is used, make sure there is no message on the control panel indicating that the wireless connection has been lost.

After turning on the MFP, wait 2–3 minutes: network functions and AirPrint discovery do not start instantly.

On the control panel, press SETTING.

Open View Information → Network → IPv4 Address.

Write down the address consisting of four groups of numbers, for example
192.168.1.40
.

An address of
0.0.0.0
, an empty field or an address beginning with
169.254
usually means that the MFP did not receive valid network settings from the router. In this case, restore the printer’s network connection first.

Check access from the phone

Connect the phone to the main Wi-Fi network. Do not use a network named Guest or Guest Network.

Temporarily pause the VPN on the phone only for the duration of the test.

Open a browser on the phone.

Enter the address you wrote down, for example:

http://192.168.1.40

The OKI web page opens. The phone can access the MFP. Continue with AirPrint or Mobile Print setup.

The page does not open. The phone and printer are on different networks, client isolation is enabled, the IP address has changed, or the MFP has lost its connection. Reinstalling the app will not fix this.

The 2.4 and 5 GHz bands are not necessarily separate networks

The phone may operate on 5 GHz while the MFP uses 2.4 GHz or Ethernet. Printing will work if the router combines them into one local network. Problems occur when the bands, guest Wi-Fi or separate VLANs are isolated from one another.

Step 2. Enable AirPrint on the OKI

Wait for the MFP ready screen.

Press SETTING.

Select AirPrint and press OK.

Set it to Enable.

Return to the ready screen.

Wait a few minutes and search again from the iPhone or iPad.

AirPrint depends on the Bonjour and IPP network functions. If the administrator has disabled either of them, AirPrint will also be unavailable. Open the MFP web page using its IP address, sign in as an administrator and check the Bonjour and IPP network protocols. Do not change other network settings.

If the AirPrint item is missing or cannot be enabled, check the firmware version. AirPrint support is provided for this generation, but a device with very old firmware may require an update. Do not start an update while the power supply or network connection is unstable.

Step 3. Print from an iPhone or iPad using AirPrint

Open a document, photo, email or web page.

Tap Share, Actions or the app’s menu button.

Scroll through the list and select Print.

Tap No Printer Selected.

Select your OKI model.

Specify the number of copies, page range, color and two-sided printing if these options are available for the selected document.

Tap Print in the upper-right corner.

Not every app supports system printing. If Print is unavailable, save the document to the Files app, open it from there and try again. For the first test, use a small one-page PDF rather than a large photo or a complex web page.

How to cancel a stuck AirPrint job

While the job is active, open the App Switcher on the iPhone or iPad.

Select Print Center.

Open the job and tap Cancel Printing.

Print Center appears only while a print job is active and disappears after printing is completed or cancelled.

If the iPhone reports No AirPrint Printers Found

Check whether the OKI web page opens by IP address from this iPhone.

Make sure the phone has not automatically connected to a guest Wi-Fi network.

Temporarily pause the VPN or a security app that may block access to local devices.

On the MFP control panel, check AirPrint → Enable.

Make sure IPP and Bonjour are not disabled in the MFP network settings.

Turn off the MFP using its normal power button, wait until it shuts down completely, turn it on and wait 2–3 minutes.

Close the app on the iPhone, reopen the document and search for the printer again.

If the problem appeared after replacing the router, check wireless client isolation, guest mode and wired/wireless network separation in the router settings.

The built-in AirPrint window on an iPhone does not allow you to enter the printer’s IP address manually. If the OKI web page opens but AirPrint does not detect the device, you can test OKI Mobile Print with manual registration by IP. This will also help determine whether only Bonjour discovery is being blocked.

Testing with Mobile Print on iPhone or iPad

Open the OKI Mobile Print page in the App Store.

Check the developer: OKI ELECTRIC INDUSTRY COMPANY,LIMITED.

Install the app and allow it to access the local network.

Open device selection and first perform a normal search.

If the printer is not found, select Add the Device using Address and enter the OKI IP address.

Send a small PDF.

The current version of Mobile Print 1.7.0 requires iOS or iPadOS 16 or later. If the app is unavailable for an older device, continue testing the built-in AirPrint. If Mobile Print prints using the manually entered IP address but AirPrint still does not detect the MFP, the network allows normal connections but blocks Bonjour/mDNS discovery.

Step 4. Install OKI Mobile Print on Android

Open the OKI Mobile Print page in Google Play.

Check the developer: Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd.

Install the app.

When you first launch it, allow the app to discover devices on the local network if Android displays such a request.

Do not allow installation of another app with a similar name from an unknown source.

The official Mobile Print 2.8.0 description lists Android 10–14 and the OKI series covered here. If Google Play does not allow the app to be installed on a newer system, do not bypass the restriction using a random APK. First check the Android system printing service or the official download on the support page for your model.

OKI Print Plugin and OKI Mobile Print are different apps. The current Print Plugin compatibility list does not include the MC332, MC362 and MC562 generation, so this article uses Mobile Print.

Step 5. Find and register the OKI in Mobile Print

Connect the Android device to the same local network as the MFP.

Open Mobile Print.

Tap the Please select a device by tapping here area.

If necessary, enable the Color filter to search for color devices.

Tap Discover Devices.

Wait for the search to finish.

Tap the detected OKI name.

On the Device Register screen, enter a clear name in the Registered Name field.

Tap OK.

Make sure the MFP appears under Registered Device(s) and is selected for printing.

By default, Android searches for devices on its own network segment. If the MFP is on another subnet, automatic discovery requires SNMP and subnet settings. For a normal home network, it is easier and more reliable to use manual addition by IP first.

Step 6. Add the printer manually in Mobile Print

Use this method if the MFP web page opens on the phone but automatic discovery does not find anything.

Open Mobile Print.

Tap Please select a device by tapping here.

Open the menu on the navigation bar.

Select Add the Device using Address.

In the IP Address field, enter the MFP address, for example
192.168.1.40
.

In the Registered Name field, enter a clear name, for example OKI MC562 Office.

Tap OK.

Make sure the device appears under Registered Device(s) and is marked as selected.

If registration stops working after the router is restarted, compare the saved IP address with the address shown on the MFP control panel. If the address has changed, remove the old registration and add the device again. To prevent the problem from recurring, you can reserve a permanent address for the MFP in the router’s DHCP settings.

Step 7. Check the RAW or IPP protocol

Mobile Print normally uses the RAW protocol. It may be blocked on some office, school or hotel networks. In this case, the app may detect the device, but the print job does not reach the printer.

Open the device search or registration screen in Mobile Print.

Open the menu on the navigation bar.

Select Change a Print Protocol.

First check RAW.

If the device registers but does not print, select IPP.

Save the change.

Completely close Mobile Print, reopen it and send a small PDF.

If the administrator has changed the default SNMP community name or enabled access restrictions, automatic discovery may not work. The Mobile Print search menu includes SNMP settings, subnet settings and an option to increase Discovery Timeout. Do not guess these values: request them from the network administrator.

Step 8. Print a test PDF from Mobile Print

Make sure the required model is shown as the selected device.

In Mobile Print, select PDF file printing.

For the first test, use a simple document no longer than a few pages.

Select standard A4 paper, one copy and one-sided printing.

Tap Print.

Look at the MFP display: a message indicating receipt or processing of the job should appear.

The PDF printed. The network, app and protocol are working. You can then test photos, web pages and additional settings.

The MFP shows that it is receiving the job but does not print. Check the queue, paper size, the message on the display and access restrictions.

Nothing changes on the display. The job did not reach the device. Check the IP address, RAW/IPP, VPN and network restrictions.

If the printer is found but the job does not print

Make sure the display shows the ready state and there is no message about paper, toner, an open cover or a jam.

Print a normal page from a computer. If it does not print either, the problem is not related to the phone.

Open the MFP IP address again in the phone’s browser.

Compare the IP address saved in the app with the current address shown on the control panel.

Cancel the stuck job and send a small one-page PDF.

In Mobile Print, switch from RAW to IPP or from IPP to RAW.

Temporarily disable the VPN and repeat the test.

If job accounting or user authentication is used on the device, open the authentication settings in Mobile Print and enter the credentials provided by the administrator.

Restart the app, then restart the MFP normally and wait a few minutes.

When job accounting is used, Mobile Print may require the PIN method, Device local type and a user ID. If the organization allows printing only by user name without an authentication method supported by the app, Mobile Print may not be suitable for this queue. The settings must be confirmed by the administrator.

If Mobile Print does not have access to the local network

iPhone or iPad

Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.

Allow access for Mobile Print.

Return to the app and search again.

In some versions of iOS, this switch is also available under Settings → Apps → Mobile Print. This permission applies to the Mobile Print app; built-in AirPrint is configured separately.

Android

Touch and hold the Mobile Print icon and open App info.

Open Permissions.

Allow discovery of local or nearby devices if such an option is available in that Android version.

Make sure Mobile Print is not prevented from using the Wi-Fi network.

Open the app again and repeat manual addition by IP.

Check the router or office network

If the OKI page opens by IP address but AirPrint does not detect the device, the network is probably blocking Bonjour broadcast discovery. If the IP address does not open, there is likely broader isolation between the phone and printer.

The network administrator may need the following information:

AirPrint discovers devices using Bonjour/mDNS;

IPP normally uses TCP port 631;

RAW printing normally uses TCP port 9100;

Mobile Print may use SNMP over UDP port 161 for discovery and retrieving device information;

guest networks, client isolation, AP isolation and separate VLANs may block communication between the phone and MFP.

Do not expose printer ports to the internet

The listed ports should be accessible only within a trusted local network. Do not configure port forwarding on the router or expose the OKI web interface to the internet just to print from a phone.

When to check the firmware

A firmware update makes sense if all of the following conditions are met:

the phone and MFP are on the same network;

the device web page opens;

AirPrint, Bonjour and IPP are enabled;

restarting did not restore discovery or jobs repeatedly end with an error;

a newer firmware version for your exact model and region is available on the support page.

Do not update the firmware simply because the phone is connected to a guest network or the app has saved an old IP address. These causes are corrected by configuring the network and do not require changing the device firmware.

When a network administrator or service center is needed

Contact the network administrator if the OKI web page opens but Bonjour, IPP, RAW or SNMP is blocked; the phone is on a separate VLAN; corporate authentication is used; or client isolation cannot be disabled.

Contact a service center if the MFP does not obtain an IP address, the network interface is not detected, there is no Ethernet connection with a known-good cable and port, or the device repeatedly restarts when the network is accessed.

If computers continue to print and the phone can open the MFP web page, but AirPrint or Mobile Print does not detect the device, the printer hardware is most likely working correctly. In this situation, the protocols and router should be checked rather than replacing the printing mechanism.

To print from a phone, an OKI printer does not necessarily need built-in Wi-Fi.
