In the latter case, the computer has already detected the device, but it selected the generic IPP method instead of the official OKI PCL6 driver.<\/p>\n<p>This situation has become particularly relevant in newer Windows 11 builds, where Windows Ready Print may be used by default for newly detected printers. For a basic home printer, this may sometimes be sufficient, but higher-end models may lose tray settings, duplex printing, paper sizes and other features. To restore them, you need to assign the correct PCL6 driver for the specific model.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #eef6ff; border-left: 5px solid #2271b1; margin: 20px 0; padding: 14px 18px;\">\n<p style=\"margin: 0 0 8px;\"><strong>Where to start<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;\">If <strong>OKI LTD xxx<\/strong> is already listed among the printers, do not delete it immediately: first install the appropriate OKI package and switch the driver in the properties of this queue. For a laptop with an ARM processor or Windows 11 in S mode, the procedure is different and is described separately below.<\/p>\n<h2>Determine exactly what happened when the printer was connected<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Bluetooth &amp; devices<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Printers &amp; scanners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Check whether a new print queue appeared after connecting the USB cable.<\/li>\n<li>If a queue is present, open it and click <strong>Printer properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On the <strong>Advanced<\/strong> tab, check the value in the <strong>Driver<\/strong> field.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the <strong>Printer properties<\/strong> button is not displayed, press <strong>Win + R<\/strong>, enter <code>shell:PrintersFolder<\/code> and press <strong>Enter<\/strong>. Right-click the required queue and select <strong>Printer properties<\/strong>. First determine the system architecture.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>System<\/strong> &gt; <strong>About<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find <strong>System type<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If it shows <strong>64-bit operating system, x64-based processor<\/strong>, continue with the PCL6 installation described in this article.<\/li>\n<li>If it shows an <strong>ARM-based processor<\/strong>, do not install the standard x86\/x64 package as the primary driver.<\/li>\n<li>To check S mode, open <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>System<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Activation<\/strong> and check the Windows edition name.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>If the computer uses ARM or Windows 11 in S mode<\/h3>\n<p>For monochrome OKI printers and MFPs in this configuration, use <strong>OKI PCL6 Class Driver 2<\/strong> or an available Windows Ready Print queue. Installation is performed through <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Bluetooth &amp; devices<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Printers &amp; scanners<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Add device<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Class Driver provides basic printing functions, but the selection of paper sizes and advanced settings may be more limited than with the official driver for a specific model. The standard EXE package described in the following sections is intended primarily for Windows x64.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2. Update Windows 11<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Disconnect the printer&#8217;s USB cable.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Windows Update<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Check for updates<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Install the available cumulative update and required fixes.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the computer.<\/li>\n<li>Check for updates again and make sure there is no message indicating that a restart is required.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Updating is especially important if Windows creates an IPP queue, print jobs disappear, or the printer starts outputting diagnostic text. Reinstalling the driver on a system that has not been updated may not correct Windows behavior itself.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3. Do not modify the registry or Group Policy just to make the switch appear. Proceed directly to installation using the official USB installer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>On a work computer, protected print mode may be enabled by the organization&#8217;s administrator. In this case, the user cannot disable it independently. Assistance from the system administrator or printing through the permitted Windows Ready Print method will be required.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4. If Windows created an OKI LTD xxx queue<\/h2>\n<p>You do not necessarily need to delete the <strong>OKI LTD xxx<\/strong> queue. If printing works but the scanning application does not detect the MFP, this is a separate installation issue. Do not remove a working PCL6 queue in an attempt to restore scanning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Step 6. Check the created queue<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Bluetooth &amp; devices<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Printers &amp; scanners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the installed OKI model.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>Printer properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On the <strong>Advanced<\/strong> tab, make sure the driver for the exact model with the <strong>(PCL6)<\/strong> designation is selected.<\/li>\n<li>On the <strong>Ports<\/strong> tab, find the row with the selected check box. With a USB connection, this is usually a virtual USB port such as <strong>USB001<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Do not manually change the port number to USB001 if your model is already shown next to another USB port: when several printers are connected, the port may be USB002 or USB003.<\/li>\n<li>On the <strong>General<\/strong> tab, click <strong>Print Test Page<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the test page prints but a specific application does not detect the new printer, close that application completely and open it again. Some applications read the printer list only when they start.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 7.
