For wireless printing and scanning, select the local network connection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Step 7. Turn on the multifunction printer and wait for the search<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>\u201cPrinter Detection\u201d<\/strong> window will open. The installer will begin searching for available devices.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Turn on the multifunction printer using the power button if it is turned off.<\/li>\n<li>Wait until the power lamp stops flashing.<\/li>\n<li>Do not close the installer.<\/li>\n<li>Allow the Canon program to access the local network if Windows or security software displays the appropriate prompt.<\/li>\n<li>Wait until the search is complete.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The <strong>\u201cSearching for printers on the network\u201d<\/strong> message may be displayed during the search.<\/p>\n<h2>Option 1. The installer found Canon MG3600 series<\/h2>\n<p>This option applies if the multifunction printer was already connected to the same router.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Find Canon MG3600 series in the list of detected devices.<\/li>\n<li>Select the detected multifunction printer.<\/li>\n<li>If several identical devices are displayed, compare their network addresses or turn off other printers during installation.<\/li>\n<li>Click the button to continue.<\/li>\n<li>Wait while the printer driver and scanner driver are installed.<\/li>\n<li>Do not turn off the multifunction printer or router.<\/li>\n<li>When the installation is complete, click the button to close the installer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A USB cable is not required in this scenario.<\/p>\n<h2>Option 2. The installer did not find the multifunction printer<\/h2>\n<p>If the device is not detected, the <strong>\u201cCheck Printer Settings\u201d<\/strong> window will open.<\/p>\n<p>First, try searching again:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure that the multifunction printer is turned on.<\/li>\n<li>Place the multifunction printer closer to the router.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the computer is connected to the correct network.<\/li>\n<li>Check that a 2.4 GHz network is available.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Redetect<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Wait until the repeated search is complete.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the device is still not found, configure the wireless connection using a temporary USB cable.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 8. Select network setup via USB<\/h2>\n<p>In the <strong>\u201cCheck Printer Settings\u201d<\/strong> window:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select the <strong>Set up the network connection via USB<\/strong> checkbox.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next &gt;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the <strong>\u201cConnect Cable\u201d<\/strong> window to appear.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div style=\"background-color: #fffbf0; border-left: 5px solid #ff9800; padding: 20px; margin: 25px 0; border-radius: 4px; box-shadow: 0 1px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.05);\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;\"><strong>The cable is used temporarily<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0;\">Selecting <strong>\u201cSet up the network connection via USB\u201d<\/strong> does not mean that the multifunction printer will operate permanently through the cable. The cable is required only to transfer the wireless network settings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The official guide provides for a temporary USB connection if the device cannot be detected on the local network.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 9. Temporarily connect the USB cable<\/h2>\n<p>Connect the cable only after the <strong>\u201cConnect Cable\u201d<\/strong> window appears.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If the installer asks you to turn off the multifunction printer, turn it off using the power button.<\/li>\n<li>Connect the almost square USB-B connector to the port on the back of the multifunction printer.<\/li>\n<li>Connect the flat USB-A connector directly to a USB port on the computer.<\/li>\n<li>Do not use a USB hub, extension cable, or docking station.<\/li>\n<li>Turn on the multifunction printer.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for it to be detected automatically.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>After the device has been detected successfully, the program will proceed to wireless network setup.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 10. Select the Wi-Fi network<\/h2>\n<p>The installer or Canon network component will display the available wireless networks.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Find the name of your router in the list.<\/li>\n<li>Select the network to which the computer is connected.<\/li>\n<li>Pay attention to the exact spelling of the network name.<\/li>\n<li>Click the confirmation or continue button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the required network is missing:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure that the router is broadcasting in the 2.4 GHz band.<\/li>\n<li>Place the multifunction printer closer to the router.<\/li>\n<li>Refresh the list of available networks.<\/li>\n<li>If the network name is hidden, enter it manually.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Canon guide states that when using a temporary USB connection, you can search for available routers and select the required SSID.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 11. Enter the Wi-Fi password<\/h2>\n<p>If the network is protected, the program will ask you to enter the password.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter the password for the selected Wi-Fi network.<\/li>\n<li>Pay attention to uppercase and lowercase letters.<\/li>\n<li>Do not add spaces at the beginning or end of the password.<\/li>\n<li>Check the entered characters.<\/li>\n<li>Click the button to continue.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For a WPA or WPA2 network, the password usually contains between 8 and 63 characters. The multifunction printer\u2019s serial number is used as the default password only in the separate direct connection mode.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The WPA\/WPA2 password requirements and confirmation of the settings are described in the Canon guide.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 12. Confirm the network settings<\/h2>\n<p>Before transferring the settings, the program may display:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the wireless network name;<\/li>\n<li>the security method;<\/li>\n<li>the encryption type;<\/li>\n<li>the IP address acquisition settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure that the correct network is selected.<\/li>\n<li>Leave automatic IP address acquisition enabled unless the network uses a special manual configuration.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm the settings.<\/li>\n<li>Wait while they are transferred to the multifunction printer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Do not turn off the multifunction printer, computer, or router while the settings are being transferred.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 13. Wait for the connection to the router<\/h2>\n<p>After the settings are saved, the multifunction printer will attempt to connect to the selected network.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Wait while the program completes the setup.<\/li>\n<li>Do not press buttons on the multifunction printer\u2019s operation panel unless instructed by the installer.<\/li>\n<li>Do not disconnect the USB cable too early.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the successful connection message.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the Wi-Fi lamp is lit.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>After a successful connection, the program may search for MG3600 series again through the local network.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 14. Complete the installation<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Wait for the printer driver to be installed.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the scanner driver to be installed.<\/li>\n<li>Do not turn off the multifunction printer until the process is complete.<\/li>\n<li>Click the button that completes the installation.<\/li>\n<li>If the program prompts you to restart the computer, restart it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The name of the button in the final window may differ depending on the installer version and selected interface language.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 16. Check the printer in Windows<\/h2>\n<h3>Windows 11<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>Start<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Bluetooth &amp; devices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>Printers &amp; scanners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find <strong>Canon MG3600 series Printer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Windows 10<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>Start<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Devices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>Printers &amp; scanners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find <strong>Canon MG3600 series Printer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If two identical entries are listed, one of them may belong to the temporary USB connection. For wireless operation, select the network entry that remains available after the cable is disconnected.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 17.
