In some cases, each page is created as a separate PDF or JPEG file, scanning stops partway through, or the application uses the scanner glass instead of the automatic document feeder.<\/p>\n<p>This guide applies to the following models:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9540;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9540A;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9541C;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9550;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9550A;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9551C;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9551CA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In Windows, scanning is performed with <strong>IJ Scan Utility<\/strong>, which is included in the Canon TS9500 Series MP Drivers package.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #fffbf0; border-left: 5px solid #ff9800; padding: 20px; margin: 25px 0; border-radius: 4px; box-shadow: 0 1px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.05);\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;\"><strong>The main setting for creating one multipage file<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In IJ Scan Utility, open <strong>Settings \u2192 Document Scan<\/strong>, and for <strong>Data Format<\/strong>, select:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #fff; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 10px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">PDF (Multiple Pages)<\/pre>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0;\">If you select the standard <strong>PDF<\/strong> format, the application may save each page as a separate file.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Why the Pages Are Not Combined into One PDF<\/h2>\n<p>The most common causes are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>standard PDF, JPEG, TIFF, or PNG is selected for <strong>Data Format<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>the platen is selected as the source instead of the ADF;<\/li>\n<li>scanning is started through a third-party application that does not support continuous scanning through the ADF;<\/li>\n<li>the <strong>Photo<\/strong> button is selected instead of <strong>Document<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>documents of different sizes are loaded in the ADF;<\/li>\n<li>another original remains on the scanner glass;<\/li>\n<li>the document guides are positioned incorrectly;<\/li>\n<li>one of the sheets jams or feeds at an angle;<\/li>\n<li>a different scanner is selected in IJ Scan Utility;<\/li>\n<li>the network connection is interrupted while data is being transferred;<\/li>\n<li>the selected resolution is too high;<\/li>\n<li>there is not enough free space on the system drive;<\/li>\n<li>the ScanGear or IJ Scan Utility installation is damaged.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Method 1: Load Documents Correctly in the ADF<\/h2>\n<p>Prepare the originals correctly before configuring the application.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Remove all documents, books, and other objects from the scanner glass.<\/li>\n<li>Remove staples and paper clips from the sheets.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure there are no sticky notes attached to the documents.<\/li>\n<li>Flatten any curled corners.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure all sheets are the same size.<\/li>\n<li>Align the edges of the stack on a flat surface.<\/li>\n<li>Open the ADF document tray at the top of the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Slide the document guides fully apart.<\/li>\n<li>Load the documents <strong>with the side to be scanned facing up<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The first page must be on top.<\/li>\n<li>Insert the stack until it stops.<\/li>\n<li>Move the document guides against the left and right edges of the documents.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The guides should lightly touch the paper. If they press too tightly against the stack, the documents may feed at an angle or stop.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #fffbf0; border-left: 5px solid #ff9800; padding: 20px; margin: 25px 0; border-radius: 4px; box-shadow: 0 1px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.05);\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;\"><strong>Do not mix different types of originals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0;\">For one scanning job through the ADF, use sheets of the same size and approximately the same weight. Photos, receipts, damaged originals, and very thin documents should be scanned one at a time on the scanner glass.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Method 2: Configure Scanning into One Multipage PDF<\/h2>\n<h3>Step 1: Start IJ Scan Utility<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Turn on the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the Home screen to appear.<\/li>\n<li>Open the Windows <strong>Start<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li>Find the <strong>Canon Utilities<\/strong> folder.<\/li>\n<li>Start <strong>IJ Scan Utility<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the application is missing, go to the section about reinstalling MP Drivers.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 2: Select the Correct Scanner<\/h3>\n<p>The following device should be displayed at the top of IJ Scan Utility:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">Canon TS9500 series<\/pre>\n<p>For a network connection, the name may include:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">Network<\/pre>\n<p>If a different scanner is selected:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <strong>Settings&#8230;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>General Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find the <strong>Product Name<\/strong> list.<\/li>\n<li>Select Canon TS9500 Series.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Step 3: Open the Document Scan Settings<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>In the main IJ Scan Utility window, click <strong>Settings&#8230;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On the left side of the window, select <strong>Document Scan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Step 4: Select the ADF<\/h3>\n<p>For <strong>Select Source<\/strong>, select:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">Document (ADF Simplex)<\/pre>\n<p>Some versions of the application may use the following option:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">Document (ADF\/Platen)<\/pre>\n<p>In this case, make sure the ADF is selected rather than only the platen.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 5: Configure the Image Settings<\/h3>\n<p>For standard text documents, you can use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Color Mode:<\/strong> Color or Grayscale;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Paper Size:<\/strong> A4, Letter, or the actual document size;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Resolution:<\/strong> 300 dpi;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Correct slanted text document:<\/strong> enable if necessary;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sharpen outline:<\/strong> enable for standard text.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For a large document archive, you can select a resolution of 200 dpi. The file size will be smaller, and scanning will be faster.<\/p>\n<p>Use 600 dpi only when it is actually necessary. A multipage color document scanned at this resolution may occupy a large amount of space and take a long time to transfer over the network.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 6: Select a Single-File Format<\/h3>\n<p>In the save settings area, find <strong>Data Format<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Select:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">PDF (Multiple Pages)<\/pre>\n<p>Do not select:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>JPEG\/Exif;<\/li>\n<li>TIFF;<\/li>\n<li>PNG;<\/li>\n<li>standard PDF if you need one file containing all pages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Step 7: Configure Compression<\/h3>\n<p>For <strong>PDF Compression<\/strong>, select:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">Standard<\/pre>\n<p>The <strong>High<\/strong> setting reduces the PDF file size, but small text and images may lose some quality.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 8: Select the Save Folder<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Find the <strong>Save in<\/strong> setting.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Browse&#8230;<\/strong> if you need to select another folder.<\/li>\n<li>Specify a clear file name.<\/li>\n<li>If necessary, clear the option for saving to a subfolder with the current date.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Step 9: Start Scanning<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure the documents are loaded correctly in the ADF.<\/li>\n<li>In the main IJ Scan Utility window, click <strong>Document<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Do not pull the sheets while they are feeding.<\/li>\n<li>Wait until the entire stack has passed through the feeder.<\/li>\n<li>Wait while the application processes and saves the PDF.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>After the last sheet exits, it may take some time before the completed file appears. IJ Scan Utility combines the pages and creates the PDF.<\/p>\n<h2>If Only the First Page Is Saved<\/h2>\n<p>Check the settings in the following order:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>Settings \u2192 Document Scan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Check <strong>Select Source<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure the ADF is selected.<\/li>\n<li>Check <strong>Data Format<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>PDF (Multiple Pages)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Close any third-party scanning applications.<\/li>\n<li>Start scanning by clicking <strong>Document<\/strong> directly in IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the first page is saved but the remaining sheets are not picked up, check:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>whether the stack is inserted fully;<\/li>\n<li>whether all documents are the same size;<\/li>\n<li>whether any sheets are stuck together;<\/li>\n<li>whether the document guides are positioned correctly;<\/li>\n<li>whether an error is displayed on the touchscreen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>If Each Page Is Saved as a Separate PDF File<\/h2>\n<p>The cause is usually the standard PDF format.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Start IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Settings&#8230;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Document Scan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find <strong>Data Format<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Instead of <strong>PDF<\/strong>, select <strong>PDF (Multiple Pages)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Scan the documents again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The standard <strong>PDF<\/strong> option saves pages separately. <strong>PDF (Multiple Pages)<\/strong> combines them into one document.<\/p>\n<h2>If Pages Are Saved as JPEG Files<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>Settings \u2192 Document Scan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Change <strong>Data Format<\/strong> from JPEG\/Exif to <strong>PDF (Multiple Pages)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the main window, click <strong>Document<\/strong> rather than <strong>Photo<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The <strong>Photo<\/strong> button is primarily intended for saving photographs in an image format.<\/p>\n<h2>If IJ Scan Utility Scans from the Platen<\/h2>\n<p>Check the source:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <strong>Settings&#8230;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Document Scan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>For <strong>Select Source<\/strong>, select the ADF.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Also remove all originals from the scanner glass. An object on the platen may cause the wrong source to be selected in automatic mode.<\/p>\n<h2>Do Not Use the \u201cAuto\u201d Button for a Complex Job<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Auto<\/strong> button automatically determines the original type and save method. This is convenient for one simple document, but for a multipage PDF, it is better to use the <strong>Document<\/strong> button with predefined settings.<\/p>\n<p>For predictable results:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>select the ADF manually;<\/li>\n<li>specify the actual paper size;<\/li>\n<li>select the multipage PDF format;<\/li>\n<li>start scanning with the <strong>Document<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>If Scanning Stops Partway Through<\/h2>\n<p>Check the printer\u2019s touchscreen. Possible causes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>one sheet fed at an angle;<\/li>\n<li>the documents are stuck together;<\/li>\n<li>the document guides are positioned too far apart;<\/li>\n<li>the stack contains a wrinkled or damaged sheet;<\/li>\n<li>originals of different sizes are being used;<\/li>\n<li>support code 2801, 2802, or 2803 occurred;<\/li>\n<li>the network connection was interrupted;<\/li>\n<li>there is not enough free space on the computer;<\/li>\n<li>scanning is being performed at an excessively high resolution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Check the Paper<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Remove the remaining documents.<\/li>\n<li>Check each sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Remove wrinkled, curled, and damaged originals.<\/li>\n<li>Separate any pages that are stuck together.<\/li>\n<li>Align the stack.<\/li>\n<li>Load fewer sheets.<\/li>\n<li>Scan the documents again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If a large stack feeds unreliably, divide the document into several sections and then combine the resulting files with IJ PDF Editor.<\/p>\n<h2>Support Codes 2801, 2802, and 2803<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2801<\/strong> \u2014 a document is jammed in the ADF;<\/li>\n<li><strong>2802<\/strong> \u2014 the printer did not detect a document in the ADF;<\/li>\n<li><strong>2803<\/strong> \u2014 the document is too long or stopped while feeding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If a document is jammed:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Tap <strong>Stop<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Remove all loose sheets.<\/li>\n<li>Open the ADF cover.<\/li>\n<li>Slowly remove the jammed document.<\/li>\n<li>Check that no scraps remain inside.<\/li>\n<li>Close the cover.<\/li>\n<li>Turn on the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Start scanning again from the beginning.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>After an interruption, the completed PDF may not contain all pages. Check the document before saving it, or combine the separate sections with PDF Editor.<\/p>\n<h2>If Scanning over Wi-Fi Is Interrupted<\/h2>\n<p>Network scanning is usually slower than scanning over USB.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure the computer and printer are connected to the same network.<\/li>\n<li>Disable the VPN.<\/li>\n<li>Do not use the router\u2019s guest network.<\/li>\n<li>Move the printer closer to the router.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the router.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce the resolution to 300 dpi.<\/li>\n<li>Try scanning two or three pages.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>During network scanning, another computer should not use the same scanner at the same time.<\/p>\n<h2>Check IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2<\/h2>\n<p>If the printer is connected through Wi-Fi or Ethernet, IJ Scan Utility receives the selected device through IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Start<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li>Find the <strong>Canon Utilities<\/strong> folder.<\/li>\n<li>Start <strong>IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find the application icon in the Windows notification area.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the icon.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Settings&#8230;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the checkbox next to Canon TS9500 Series.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Close and reopen IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the printer is not displayed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>check its network connection;<\/li>\n<li>allow Canon applications through the firewall;<\/li>\n<li>restart the computer;<\/li>\n<li>reinstall MP Drivers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>If Scanning Through a Third-Party Application Stops After the First Page<\/h2>\n<p>Some applications work with ScanGear but do not support continuous scanning of multiple sheets through the ADF.<\/p>\n<p>To test this:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Close the third-party application.<\/li>\n<li>Start IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<li>Select the ADF as the source.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>PDF (Multiple Pages)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Document<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If all pages scan successfully in IJ Scan Utility, the printer and driver are working correctly. The limitation is related to the third-party application.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Combine Pages That Have Already Been Scanned<\/h2>\n<p>If the pages were saved as separate files, you do not necessarily need to scan them again.<\/p>\n<h3>Using IJ PDF Editor<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Start IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>PDF Editor<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On the <strong>File<\/strong> menu, select <strong>Open&#8230;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open the first PDF file.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Add Page<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the remaining PDF files or images.<\/li>\n<li>Change the page order by dragging the pages.<\/li>\n<li>Delete unnecessary pages if required.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>File \u2192 Save As&#8230;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>For <strong>File Type<\/strong>, select <strong>PDF (Multiple Pages)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Specify the file name and folder.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>IJ PDF Editor can create or edit a document containing up to 100 pages at a time.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Add New Pages to an Existing PDF<\/h2>\n<p>IJ PDF Editor allows you to open a previously created document and add new pages to it.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>PDF Editor<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open the existing PDF.<\/li>\n<li>Load additional documents in the ADF.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Scan<\/strong> on the toolbar.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for scanning to finish.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange the pages in the correct order.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Save As&#8230;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Editing may be unavailable for some PDF files created in other applications. IJ PDF Editor is primarily intended for files created with Canon software.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Scan a Two-Sided Document<\/h2>\n<p>If the installed version of IJ Scan Utility does not provide automatic duplex ADF scanning, scan the document in two stages.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Scan the Front Sides<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Load the documents with the front sides facing up.<\/li>\n<li>Scan the entire stack.<\/li>\n<li>Save the result as a separate PDF.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Step 2: Scan the Back Sides<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Without changing the document order, turn over the stack.<\/li>\n<li>Pay attention to the direction of the top edge.<\/li>\n<li>Scan the back sides into a separate PDF.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Step 3: Assemble the Pages<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the first file in IJ PDF Editor.<\/li>\n<li>Add the pages from the second file.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange the pages in the following order:\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">page 1 \u2014 front\r\npage 1 \u2014 back\r\npage 2 \u2014 front\r\npage 2 \u2014 back<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Save the completed multipage PDF.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Before scanning a large two-sided document, check the page order using two sheets.<\/p>\n<h2>If the Completed PDF Is Too Large<\/h2>\n<p>The file size depends on the number of pages, color mode, resolution, and compression level.<\/p>\n<p>To reduce the file size:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>Settings \u2192 Document Scan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>For text documents, select <strong>Grayscale<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Set the resolution to 200 or 300 dpi.<\/li>\n<li>For <strong>PDF Compression<\/strong>, select <strong>High<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Disable searchable PDF creation if it is not required.<\/li>\n<li>Scan the documents again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>With high compression, small text and images may look worse. Check the result using several pages first.<\/p>\n<h2>If the PDF Does Not Appear in the Expected Folder<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Settings&#8230;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Document Scan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Check the path in the <strong>Save in<\/strong> field.<\/li>\n<li>Check whether saving to a subfolder with the current date is enabled.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>By default, scanned documents are often saved in the <strong>Documents<\/strong> folder.
