For example, TS9550 and TS9550A use different update packages.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Confirm the Exact Model Name<\/h2>\n<p>Do not select the file based only on the printer\u2019s appearance. Check the full model name using one of the following methods.<\/p>\n<h3>Method 1: Check the Printer Body<\/h3>\n<p>The model name is usually printed on the front of the printer. Check for the letter A after the number and for the letter A in the CA suffix.<\/p>\n<h3>Method 2: Check in Windows<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Start<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>Bluetooth &amp; devices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Printers &amp; scanners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open the installed Canon printer.<\/li>\n<li>Check its name.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Method 3: Check the Factory Label<\/h3>\n<p>Turn off the printer and find the label containing the model name and serial number. The program may report that the update cannot be performed or is not required.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Method 1: Update the Firmware from the Printer\u2019s Screen<\/h2>\n<p>This is the easiest and safest method. The program usually asks you to check the connection, select the printer, and start the update.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 5: Wait for the Update to Finish<\/h3>\n<p>After the update starts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>do not turn off the printer;<\/li>\n<li>do not disconnect the USB cable;<\/li>\n<li>do not turn off the computer;<\/li>\n<li>do not allow the computer to enter sleep mode;<\/li>\n<li>do not start printing or scanning;<\/li>\n<li>do not close the update program;<\/li>\n<li>do not press the printer\u2019s power button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The indicator lamps may flash, and the printer screen may change temporarily. This does not indicate a malfunction.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Wait for the successful completion message.<\/li>\n<li>Close the update program.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the printer to restart completely.<\/li>\n<li>Check the current version on the touchscreen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>If the Update Program Cannot Detect the Printer<\/h2>\n<p>Perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Close Firmware Updater.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure the printer is turned on and ready.<\/li>\n<li>Check whether a support code is displayed on the touchscreen.<\/li>\n<li>Disconnect the USB cable.<\/li>\n<li>Connect the cable directly to another USB port on the computer.<\/li>\n<li>Do not use a hub or docking station.<\/li>\n<li>Try another working USB Type-B cable.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the computer.<\/li>\n<li>Run Firmware Updater as an administrator again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If Windows does not respond to the USB connection at all, resolve the printer detection problem first. A firmware update cannot be performed over an unstable USB connection.<\/p>\n<h2>If the Printer Is Connected Only via Wi-Fi<\/h2>\n<p>Firmware Updater still requires a temporary USB connection.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Do not remove the existing Wi-Fi connection.<\/li>\n<li>Connect a USB cable between the printer and computer.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for Windows to detect the device.<\/li>\n<li>Run Firmware Updater.<\/li>\n<li>After the update is complete, disconnect the USB cable.<\/li>\n<li>Check Wi-Fi printing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A firmware update usually does not require removing the network printer from Windows.<\/p>\n<h2>If a Message Says That the Update Is Not Required<\/h2>\n<p>This may mean:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the same version is already installed on the printer;<\/li>\n<li>a newer version is installed;<\/li>\n<li>the package is not intended for this model variant;<\/li>\n<li>the program could not identify the device correctly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Check:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the full model name;<\/li>\n<li>whether the name contains the letter A or the CA suffix;<\/li>\n<li>the current firmware version;<\/li>\n<li>the downloaded file name;<\/li>\n<li>the USB connection.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Do not attempt to force the firmware installation if the program reports an incompatibility.<\/p>\n<h2>If the Wrong File Was Downloaded<\/h2>\n<p>If the update has not started:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Close the program.<\/li>\n<li>Delete the incorrect EXE file.<\/li>\n<li>Delete the extracted folder created by that file.<\/li>\n<li>Check the model name.<\/li>\n<li>Download the correct package.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the program detected the incompatibility before firmware writing began, the printer usually remains unchanged.<\/p>\n<p>If an update with the wrong file has already started, do not turn off the power or disconnect the cable. Wait for the program to finish or display an error. If an error appears, contact a Canon service center.<\/p>\n<h2>If the Update Stops<\/h2>\n<p>Do not turn off the printer immediately.
