Windows may install only the printer driver, while the ScanGear scanner driver or IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2 may be missing or configured incorrectly.<\/p>\n<p>This guide applies to the following models:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9540;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9540A;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9541C;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9550;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9550A;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9551C;<\/li>\n<li>Canon PIXMA TS9551CA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All the models listed above belong to the Canon TS9500 series and use the same MP Drivers Ver. 1.06 package.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #fffbf0; border-left: 5px solid #ff9800; padding: 20px; margin: 25px 0; border-radius: 4px; box-shadow: 0 1px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.05);\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;\"><strong>If Wi-Fi printing works<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0;\">Do not reset the printer\u2019s network settings or reconnect it to Wi-Fi. If documents are printing, the printer is already connected to the network. Usually, you only need to select the network scanner in IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2 or reinstall the complete MP Drivers package.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>First, Determine the Connection Method<\/h2>\n<p>Check how the printer is connected to the computer:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>USB<\/strong> \u2014 a USB cable connects the printer directly to the computer;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wi-Fi<\/strong> \u2014 the printer and computer are connected wirelessly to the same router;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ethernet<\/strong> \u2014 the printer is connected to the router with a network cable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For a USB connection, the following device is normally selected in IJ Scan Utility:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">Canon TS9500 series<\/pre>\n<p>For a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection, the following device is normally selected:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">Canon TS9500 series Network<\/pre>\n<h2>Method 1: Restart the Printer and Computer<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Close IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<li>Close any other scanning applications.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off the printer using the power button.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the computer.<\/li>\n<li>After Windows starts, turn on the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Wait approximately one minute.<\/li>\n<li>Open IJ Scan Utility again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Only one user can scan from the device at a time. If the printer is used by several computers, close the scanning applications on the other computers.<\/p>\n<h2>Method 2: Check Whether IJ Scan Utility Is Installed<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Start<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the following in the search box:\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">IJ Scan Utility<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Open the application found in the search results.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If IJ Scan Utility is not found, only the printer driver is probably installed on the computer. Go to the <strong>Reinstall the Complete MP Drivers Package<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<h2>Method 3: Select the Correct Scanner in IJ Scan Utility<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Start <strong>IJ Scan Utility<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Check which device is shown at the top of the window.<\/li>\n<li>If the printer is connected via USB, select <strong>Canon TS9500 series<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, select <strong>Canon TS9500 series Network<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you cannot select a device in the main window:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>General Settings<\/strong> on the left side of the window.<\/li>\n<li>Find <strong>Product Name<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Select<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the required scanner.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> again to close the settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Place a document on the scanner glass and click <strong>Document<\/strong>. If scanning starts, the problem has been resolved.<\/p>\n<h2>Method 4: Check the USB Connection<\/h2>\n<p>Follow this section only if the printer is connected directly to the computer via USB.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Turn off the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.<\/li>\n<li>Inspect the cable. It should not have any severe bends or visible damage.<\/li>\n<li>Connect the cable directly to a USB port on the computer.<\/li>\n<li>Do not use a USB hub, docking station, or a USB port on a keyboard.<\/li>\n<li>Turn on the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for Windows to detect the device.<\/li>\n<li>Start IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Canon TS9500 series<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Try scanning again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the scanner is not detected:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>connect the cable to another USB port on the computer;<\/li>\n<li>try another working USB Type-B cable;<\/li>\n<li>do not connect the printer through an adapter if a standard USB port is available;<\/li>\n<li>check whether an error message is displayed on the printer\u2019s screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If printing works through the same USB cable but the scanner is unavailable, the ScanGear driver is most likely damaged or not installed.<\/p>\n<h2>Method 5: Select the Network Scanner in IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2<\/h2>\n<p>This section is intended for Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections.<\/p>\n<p>IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2 tells IJ Scan Utility which network scanner to use. Printing may work even when no scanner is selected in this application.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Start IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Start<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li>Enter:\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Open the application found in the search results.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>After the application starts, its icon will appear in the notification area in the lower-right corner of the screen.<\/p>\n<p>If the icon is not visible:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the <strong>Show hidden icons<\/strong> arrow next to the clock.<\/li>\n<li>Find the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2 icon.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Step 2: Select the Printer<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click the <strong>IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2<\/strong> icon.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The network scanner selection window will open.<\/li>\n<li>Find <strong>Canon TS9500 series<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the checkbox next to this device.<\/li>\n<li>If several identical devices appear in the list, compare their MAC addresses.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A MAC address consists of letters and numbers and may look like this:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">A1:B2:C3:D4:E5:F6<\/pre>\n<h3>Step 3: Select the Network Version of the Scanner<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Start IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Canon TS9500 series Network<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Place a document on the scanner glass.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Document<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>When using a network connection, scanning may take slightly longer to start than with a USB connection.<\/p>\n<h2>If the Printer Is Missing from IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2<\/h2>\n<p>Check the network connection.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure the printer is turned on.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure network printing works.<\/li>\n<li>Connect the computer to the same router as the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Disable the VPN.<\/li>\n<li>Do not use a guest Wi-Fi network.<\/li>\n<li>Restart IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2.<\/li>\n<li>Open the <strong>Settings<\/strong> window again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the printer prints but does not appear in the scanner list, check the firewall and reinstall MP Drivers.<\/p>\n<h2>Method 6: Configure Scanning from the Printer\u2019s Operation Panel<\/h2>\n<p>Use this section if scanning from IJ Scan Utility works, but the computer does not appear on the printer\u2019s screen when you select a scanning command.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Start <strong>IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find the application icon next to the clock.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the icon.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>Scan-from-Operation-Panel Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Canon TS9500 series<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>To send a scan from the printer\u2019s operation panel to the computer:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the computer must be turned on;<\/li>\n<li>a user must be signed in to Windows;<\/li>\n<li>IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2 must be running;<\/li>\n<li>the computer and printer must be connected to the same network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Method 7: Restart the Windows Scanning Service<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Press <strong>Windows + R<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter:\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">services.msc<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find the <strong>Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)<\/strong> service.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click it.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Restart<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If <strong>Restart<\/strong> is unavailable:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click the service.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Startup type<\/strong> field, select <strong>Automatic<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Apply<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Start<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Close the <strong>Services<\/strong> window and start IJ Scan Utility again.<\/p>\n<h2>Method 8: Allow Canon Applications Through the Firewall<\/h2>\n<p>This method is especially important for network scanning.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Start<\/strong> menu.<\/li>\n<li>Enter <strong>Windows Security<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open the application found in the search results.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>Firewall &amp; network protection<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Allow an app through firewall<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Change settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find Canon applications, IJ Scan Utility, and IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2 in the list.<\/li>\n<li>Allow them to communicate on private networks.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you use third-party antivirus software with its own firewall, temporarily disable only its network protection and test scanning.<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to enable the protection again after the test.<\/p>\n<h2>Method 9: Reinstall the Complete MP Drivers Package<\/h2>\n<p>Reinstall the package if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IJ Scan Utility is missing;<\/li>\n<li>ScanGear does not start;<\/li>\n<li>the scanner is unavailable when using a USB connection;<\/li>\n<li>IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2 is not installed;<\/li>\n<li>the previous methods did not help.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Step 1: Uninstall the Old Canon Software<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>If you are using USB, disconnect the USB cable from the computer.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>Windows + R<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter:\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">appwiz.cpl<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find <strong>Canon TS9500 series MP Drivers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the program and click <strong>Uninstall<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If <strong>Canon IJ Scan Utility<\/strong> is listed separately, uninstall it as well.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the computer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Step 2: Download the Latest Driver<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gdlp01.c-wss.com\/gds\/6\/0100009646\/08\/md__-win-ts9500-1_06-ea34_2.exe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Download Canon TS9500 series MP Drivers Ver. 1.06<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>File name:<\/p>\n<pre style=\"background: #f4f4f4; border: 1px solid #ddd; padding: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap; overflow-x: auto;\">md__-win-ts9500-1_06-ea34_2.exe<\/pre>\n<h3>Step 3: Install the Driver<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Downloads<\/strong> folder.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the <strong>md__-win-ts9500-1_06-ea34_2.exe<\/strong> file.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Run as administrator<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If the <strong>User Account Control<\/strong> window appears, click <strong>Yes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Accept the license agreement.<\/li>\n<li>Select the connection method you use.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For a USB connection:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Do not connect the cable immediately.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the installer to ask you to connect the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Connect the USB cable directly to the computer.<\/li>\n<li>Turn on the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the device to be detected.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Turn on the printer before the search begins.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure the computer is connected to the same network.<\/li>\n<li>Select the detected <strong>Canon TS9500 series<\/strong> printer.<\/li>\n<li>Allow Canon applications to access the network.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Restart the computer after the installation is complete.<\/p>\n<h2>What to Do If \u201cCannot Communicate with Scanner\u201d Appears<\/h2>\n<p>Follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Check whether the printer is turned on.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure there is no error code on the printer\u2019s screen.<\/li>\n<li>Close any other scanning applications.<\/li>\n<li>For a USB connection, reconnect the cable.<\/li>\n<li>For a network connection, select the device in IJ Network Scanner Selector EX2.<\/li>\n<li>In IJ Scan Utility, select <strong>Canon TS9500 series Network<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the WIA service.<\/li>\n<li>Check the firewall.<\/li>\n<li>If the problem persists, reinstall MP Drivers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>What to Do If ScanGear Does Not Start<\/h2>\n<p>ScanGear is part of the MP Drivers package. If the application reports that the scanner driver is not installed:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Uninstall Canon TS9500 series MP Drivers.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the computer.<\/li>\n<li>Download MP Drivers Ver. 1.06.<\/li>\n<li>Run the installer as an administrator.<\/li>\n<li>Perform a complete installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Do not rely only on automatically adding the printer through Windows Settings. The standard Windows driver may provide printing functionality without installing ScanGear and IJ Scan Utility.<\/p>\n<h2>Test the Scanner After Troubleshooting<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Turn on the printer.<\/li>\n<li>Place the document face down on the scanner glass.<\/li>\n<li>Align the upper corner of the document with the alignment mark on the glass.<\/li>\n<li>Close the scanner cover.<\/li>\n<li>Start IJ Scan Utility.<\/li>\n<li>Select the correct device.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Document<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for scanning to finish.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>By default, the scanned file is usually saved in the <strong>Pictures<\/strong> folder.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #fffbf0; border-left: 5px solid #ff9800; padding: 20px; margin: 25px 0; border-radius: 4px; box-shadow: 0 1px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.05);\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;\"><strong>Laptops with Snapdragon Processors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Printing on a Windows 11 ARM computer may work through the standard Windows driver even if the Canon applications were not installed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0;\">The MP Drivers Ver. 1.06 package does not contain a separate ARM64 driver. Therefore, ScanGear and IJ Scan Utility may be unavailable on such a computer.
