Many Samsung printers have problems installing Samsung Universal Print Driver 3<\/strong> on Windows 10 and Windows 11. It usually looks like this: the driver seems to install, but the printer does not print, does not appear in the system, is detected incorrectly, or works with errors.<\/p>\n

This guide is intended primarily for the situation where Samsung Universal Print Driver 3 has already been installed unsuccessfully<\/strong>, and now the printer does not work. First, it shows the main method with a proper UPD reinstall, and then a backup method through the INF file inside the driver package.<\/p>\n

Before installation (important)<\/h2>\n

Important:<\/strong> two different installation scenarios are described below. The order of actions is different in each case.<\/p>\n

If you install through the EXE file (Method 1):<\/strong> for a USB printer<\/strong>, do not connect<\/u> the printer to the computer in advance. Connect it only when the installer asks you to<\/strong>. If you connect the printer first, Windows may install its own driver automatically, and that often interferes with a normal UPD installation.<\/p>\n

If you have a Samsung network printer:<\/strong> before installing through the EXE file, make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the same network as the computer.<\/p>\n

If you install through the INF file (Method 2):<\/strong> for a USB printer<\/strong>, this method is easier when the printer is already connected and turned on, because Windows usually creates a USB port for the device, most often USB001<\/strong>. If Windows shows a new hardware message, click Cancel<\/strong> and continue with the instructions.<\/p>\n

If you install a network printer through the INF file:<\/strong> this method is easier when you already know the printer IP address.<\/p>\n

If the archive or installer extracts with an error, try 7-Zip.<\/p>\n

Method 1. Reinstall Samsung Universal Print Driver 3 correctly<\/h2>\n

Step 1. Prepare the printer and the computer<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Close Word, your PDF viewer, and other programs.<\/li>\n
  2. If you have a USB printer<\/strong>, turn the printer off and disconnect the USB cable from the computer.<\/li>\n
  3. If you have a network printer<\/strong>, make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Step 2. Remove the old printer from Windows<\/h3>\n

    Windows 11<\/strong><\/p>\n

    1. Click Start<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    2. Open Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    3. Open Bluetooth & devices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    4. Open Printers & scanners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    5. Find your Samsung printer in the list.<\/li>\n
    6. Select it.<\/li>\n
    7. Click Remove<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    8. Confirm the removal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Windows 10<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Click Start<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      2. Open Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      3. Open Devices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      4. Open Printers & scanners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      5. Find your Samsung printer in the list.<\/li>\n
      6. Select it.<\/li>\n
      7. Click Remove device<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      8. Confirm the removal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        If the list contains several similar Samsung printers, remove all entries related to this device.<\/p>\n

        Step 3. Remove the old Samsung driver from the system<\/h3>\n

        Windows 11<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Open Start<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        2. Open Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        3. Go to Bluetooth & devices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        4. Open Printers & scanners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        5. Scroll down and click Printer server properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Windows 10<\/strong><\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Open Start<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
          2. Open Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
          3. Go to Devices<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
          4. Open Printers & scanners<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
          5. Click Printer server properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            The next steps are the same in Windows 10 and Windows 11<\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
            1. Open the Drivers<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n
            2. Find Samsung Universal Print Driver 3<\/strong> or another Samsung driver that is already installed.<\/li>\n
            3. Select it.<\/li>\n
            4. Click Remove…<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
            5. If a choice appears, select Remove driver and driver package<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
            6. Click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              If the driver does not uninstall, first cancel all jobs in the print queue and then try again.<\/p>\n

              Step 4. Restart the computer<\/h3>\n

              After restarting, for a USB printer<\/strong>, do not reconnect the cable until you start the driver installation.<\/p>\n

              Step 5. Run Samsung Universal Print Driver 3 installation<\/h3>\n
                \n
              1. Find the file SamsungUniversalPrintDriver3_V3.00.16.0101.01.exe<\/code>.<\/li>\n
              2. Right-click it.<\/li>\n
              3. Select Run as administrator<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
              4. If Windows asks for permission, click Yes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
              5. Click Next ><\/strong> through the setup steps and accept the installation terms.<\/li>\n
              6. If the installer asks you to choose the connection type:\n
                  \n
                1. for a USB printer<\/strong>, choose the USB or local printer option;<\/li>\n
                2. for a network printer<\/strong>, choose the network printer option or the option to search for a printer on the network.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                3. If you have a USB printer<\/strong>, do not connect the printer<\/strong> until the installer tells you to do so.<\/li>\n
                4. When the installer asks you to connect the device:\n
                    \n
                  1. for a USB printer, connect the USB cable and turn the printer on;<\/li>\n
                  2. for a network printer, wait for the installer to find the printer on the network, or enter it manually if the program asks for that.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                  3. If Windows shows a new hardware message, click Cancel<\/strong> and continue with the installation.<\/li>\n
                  4. Wait until the installation is finished.<\/li>\n
                  5. Click Finish<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
